Could not add this card to apple pay. I had to call them and they sent out a letter via mail to confirm my identity smh. I have had like 5 different banks in my apple pay but none did this
It's a PITA with any of my Citi cards to add them to ApplePay. Haven't had to wait for snail mail, but I've always had to call their Fraud Dept to do so.

If I buy a new laptop or TV at bestbuy or amazon spending $1,000 after getting this card, is that eligible for the 300 dollar intro bonus or does it have to be certain kinds of purchases?

Applied-Approved. Another reason I value Slickdeals, I get better insight with no BS from others on this site vs. the nerdwallets of the world.

There's a $300 for $1k spend that I ended up getting for a large purchase. Unfortunately they won't expedite the card or give me a virtual one.

Got mine in the mail today. I asked this before, but never got a reply...I signed up under the $300/$1000 spend offer, is there any confirmation anywhere that it is indeed applied to my account? I don't want to end up charging 1k to it and not getting a bonus.

Edit: Nevermind! It shows up under the 'Rewards and Offers' menu

If anyone applied within last couple of months for $250/1000$ spend offer try to contact Citi they will probably match you with the 300$ offer. I applied couple of months back and got approved after I spent my 1000$ the 250$ got rewarded immediately then I've realized about this offer and mailed citi about this. No response to my mail but today I got a letter confirming 5000 more thank you points (equivalent to 50$) got added to my account. So give it a try

Do you know you can get $300 bonus if applying through credit karma/in branch. You are not so correct

If you walk in a Citibank to open the credit card, you get $300 instead of $200.

How so? I've been doing these for years. You pay it off the next month and profit.

That works, but you lose $6 to the VISA fee unless you catch it at a time Safeway's doing a promo (used to be very often earlier this year, but not lately). It ends up being 3.87% thereabouts. And the additional hassle of dealing with a GC, possibly losing it, etc.

All it takes is losing one $500 GC to make years of doing this not worth it.

I just signed up for one of these the other day before I even saw this thread, LOL. My old Citi professional MC used to have decent % for the thank you points, but I have noticed it has gone down to 1% or less (MUCH less if you choose to "pay with points" on Amz / BB / etc). With this card, you get 1% on everything, then 5% of the floating $500 category. I am interested to see what happens with those floating categories, as I pay for everything except my mortgage (wish I could) with CC for the points, then pay off every month.

My rough math thinks I could end up 3% average or higher overall, but it really depends how the floating categories go. Like triple what I am currently getting... I'll find out soon enough. The extra $200 for hitting 1500 in 3 months is just gravy.

And if Walmart Neighborhood Market (we call it the Wal-Market) doesn't count as a grocery store, that is a bummer. It's really the best grocery shopping option we have anywhere near us... there is a Tom Thumb but everything they sell is 20% or higher than the Wal-Market.

Honestly I currently use the points to buy crap I don't need but want, like new TV / console / laptop / etc

I would double check the fine print, I think my current Citi MC card exempts gift cards from point eligible.

edit - I read the entire terms and conditions and it says nothing about gift cards.

"Balance transfers, cash advances, checks that access your Card Account, items returned for credit, unauthorized charges, interest and account fees, travelers checks, foreign currency purchases, money orders, wire transfers (and similar cash-like transactions), lottery tickets, gaming chips (and similar betting transactions) do not earn ThankYou Points."

I did that actually. I bought a $500 VISA gift card at CVS.
I received the $200 sign-on bonus. Mine was the $200 for $750 spend.
I didn't do that in November or December because I have the Chase Freedom Flex
which is giving me 9% (8% after fees) if I use Paypal to buy at drugstores.
