I'm trying to decide between a portable SSD either a Samsung S5 2TB or Crucial X6 4GB. The 4GB would be better for my size needs but I read some reviews on Amazon that the Crucial one has less memory cache and is crazy slow for transferring big files? I use VeraCrypt for encryption and have big encrypted files. I'm not really a tech person at all.. so anyone who has used these SSDs have any tips on which to choose?

Should be good enough for external storage.

Im currently using a 500gb samsung t5 on a ps5 and it works great with no noticeable issues. Even on the ps4 pro the t5 ssd helped with lots of crappy loading issues in games.

Im looking to upgrade size cause 500gb isnt much space when all your old 'boring' ps4 games suddenly work better and load faster.

Although i may just opt for a SATA ssd w/ an adapter because they are usually cheaper...but if the drive in this isnt a crappy model then it may be one of the better current deals for a 2tb ssd

Doubt it cause of that USB C adaptor that appears on the pic where they took it apart.

Same question. What would be regular price for 1TB portable SSD? How do they compare with this $75 prime day price?

1TB is pretty good for $75 since most internal 1TB SSd's have gone for +$80 and you still need to get a +$10 SSD enclosure as well to convert it into a portable version.

I bought myself a 500GB for purely photo/music storage. Was going to grab 2 because I know you are supposed to have a backup of your backup but decided that I will leap frog my backups between 1 years in case the drives themself have a high failure rate. Probably will grab another external SSD 1 year down the road and by then, I'll have 2x externals, different brands, and probably higher storage on my 2nd one since they keep getting cheaper.

I had my eyes on the 1TB yesterday for external PS5 storage, but several reviews dissuaded me. Supposedly the SSD transfer speeds choke after a certain amount of GBs if it is a larger file. Definitely not future proof for PS5, and several (AAA) games are already 50+ gigabytes.

It's SATA form factor.. basically the inside of a 2.5" shell but significantly smaller than that.

You'd mainly be playing ps4 games from this anyway, the transfer speeds wouldn't matter
