I know a lot of people talk smack about the S, but man, I love mine, I'm not one to pixel count, so as long as the game I'm playing is 1080p, I'm fine, looks great on my LG CX, especially when the games are still kicking at 60fps or better.
Also travels well, I'm able to throw it in my bag next to my laptop when I travel and it's great for hotel downtime.
I have no problem with the S's performance. If that were the only difference, I'd already own one. My problem is the measly storage. 512GB, only 364GB left after OS. When a lot of AAA games run over 100GB, that's gonna fill up real quick. You can remedy this by getting a storage expansion card, but that brings the total cost to more than the Series X.
If you're a very casual gamer who only plays one or two games at a time, the Series S may be a good buy. But I'm pretty casual, don't have a ton of games, and I've been struggling with the 500GB storage limit on my PS4 for a couple years now. It can only be worse with newer games.
Its Costco. They are a warehouse retailer. They have paid members and they purchase in bulk. People pay membership fees for access to prices below MSRP. Those membership fees help pay for things being sold under MSRP.

Until the Series X becomes not a literal man hunt to get a console I am happy with my Xbox One X. I bought it when Starwars jedi fallen order was bundled with it for $199.00 at Best Buy. It has never faulted me and except for system updates it stays on 24hrs. A day 365 days a year. Has been the most reliable console I have ever owned. When storage became an issue I just waited till I could get a good deal on an external 5TB usb powered drive. After filling that up it was Microcenter that rescued me with the 8TB usb hub and then a second one joined the 1st. So that's 22TB in all minus format which can usually be estimated at 90gb per tb. My game library is well over 700 and so far about the only game that's new I can't play would be Stalker 2. I am a GPU subscriber and a pc gamer as well. I cant speak for everyone but once I upgraded from 1080p to 1440p on pc there was no going back and the same can be said for consoles. Maybe it's just me but I would rather just turn on my controller press A for the game I want or resume the last loaded game I was playing and play my game instead of spending hours doing benchmarks finding the best settings that my game can run at respectable fps and eye candy on my 3080. Would I benefit from a Series S or X. Yes for newer games coming out as developers move away from the X and S and focus more on the Series X and S. Microsoft.com has already stated it is going to continue to support the xbox one s and X lineup for a while yet so why rush out and buy the newest console?
I am glad to see that for those who are trying to get the Series S console at not a kings ransom scalper price can do so. I almost pulled the trigger on Prime day. It was in my cart and would have been in my hands sometime today. I elected to wait. Mainly because I have a large 65 Samsung 120hz 4k TV. That kind if display needs the series X or a monster gaming pc to really stretch its legs. Maybe Christmas I can find a Series X. If not there's always next year.
I wasnt trying to explain for this category, or product, specifically. Just explaining how Costco works. And yes most major retailers buy in bulk. Some for a large quantity now. Some with a contract for a large quantity over time. Many small waves to fulfill the order. So quantities might be limited or even scarce from the bulk procurement.
You weren't trying to explain this category? Someone said he was surprised it was selling under MSRP, and you went into an explanation of how Costco gets people prices under MSRP, and it wasn't intended to explain video games?

That's not an issue though if you already have 5-10 TB HDD, you can still store Series S games on it and quickly transfer it to the internal SD. Keep 5-10 games in there and just rotate your last played games.

The Series S will still look great on a 65 4k. I also have a Samsung Qled 6 Series, 55 inch, and a PS5, and I can tell you the Series S is just as butter smooth and pretty. The upscaling to 4k does a great job and I'm glad I didn't spend that extra $200 tbh, it really does the job better than I expected.

How much was it on prime day. I looked but it was like almost $400.

Exactly. The only "next-gen" exclusive out now that I want to play is Ratchet and Clank. I can wait, while still enjoying my XB1X and PS4 Pro.
Thanks for the alert. Unfortunately (or fortunately), I managed to get enough Xbox gift cards last year when Amazon was running that 25% back in points sale to cover the series x + tax from Microsoft directly. That was a great deal, with quite a bit of hassle, but now I'm stuck waiting for it to be in stock at MS online. Gonna be a while. Knew there'd be delays, but didn't think it'd be this bad when I bought the cards last October.
I bought $500 worth of Xbox gift cards from Costco when they had the "$100 off $500" deal going in April. Was able to pick up a Series X from the Microsoft Store within a day or two using the HotStock app (tracks stock at stores of your choice and pings you when available, I spent $5 for a one-month premium membership to get earlier notice and it worked out for me).
I'd strongly recommend using an app like that, or following one of the dedicated Xbox Stock Twitter accounts, and just staying logged into the MS Store so you're ready to go — waiting since October is far too long!
Does anyone know of a good aftermarket place to sell one of these? I had been waiting for the X version forever and one of these became available and so I got it. The next week I actually was able to finally get an X out of luck and so I have this S version and I guess I was already out of the two week return period at Gamestop. if anyone is in need of one of these I will sell it for $300 even. If you know of a way to prove that we are not scamming each other also that would be cool because i have never sold anything online. Anyways no I am not a not trying to scam anyone just trying to be helpful and my significant other is getting upset that there are two new X boxes here.
