How much of a hit is it to a credit score after closing?
If you have a bunch of other CC's, then minimal.

There's no 0% intro promo rate on the Premier card I just opened. I haven't heard/read any mention of getting the $95 annual fee waived. I think you're correct that 80k points = $800. And I would expect paying for doctor services to count towards the $4k spend.
Oh that sucks about no 0% introductory rate I mean. Citi is the only card that told me that they accumulate interest daily and it's always added before the statement closing date even if you pay in full before it. Did you have any issue with spending the 4k at once?

Just want to confirm that if I buy Visa Gift cards, it applies towards the 4K minimum spend?

Pretty sure any purchases will qualify. The only things that wouldn't qualify would be balance transfers from other cards, or cash advances, but these are technically not purchases anyway.

I googled how Citi charges interest, and it seems to be similar to how other issuers do it. Generally, if you pay off your balance every month "within the grace period" you shouldn't have to worry about interest. That grace period language is new to me, but I admit I don't normally look at that stuff very closely.

I'm guessing I'll get my first statement around October 20th (my due date is the 15th). So I'll review it, but I'm not expecting to see any interest charges right now. And I've put about $1,400 of spend on the card, so I've got $2,600 to go and a little over 2 months to get it done.

Citi has the WORST customer service ever and the buggiest website. It's not worth the money.
I second this their customer service is horrible and rude, I have an excellent credit score and never missed a payment since my first credit card and I got denied.

Don't know who told you that, but they were wrong.

No, but you should love the $800+ signup bonus, and the ability to downgrade to a $0 fee card after the 1st year.

What I can tell you is that closing your existing Premier card right now would definitely disqualify you from the current bonus offer. The terms state that you cannot have earned the bonus from the Premier card (and the Rewards+, Thank You Preferred, Prestige cards) OR closed any of those cards within the past 24 months. So if you had done that, it would've been game over, man.

I've also heard that you can have an existing Premier card when applying for a new one (so you'd end up with 2 of the same card) but don't take my word for it. I'd do some more googling on that point.

Thanks for the reply! Good thing I just took the retention offer in the meantime while doing the research but seems difficult to find out if it would be okay to still have the Premier card while applying for a second one and still get the intro bonus.

Not too familiar with this site, but they confirm that you can apply for a second Premier card.
