You need a receiver to be able to amplify and connect devices to these speakers. You will not be able to utilize any of these speakers without a receiver. The set being sold here is the "5.1.2" in case you were wondering.

Watch the video below which shows you the basic setup and connect guide.

I ordered Costco Klipsch system with $50 coupon, which put the price down to $749. Still I need to buy R-12SW, which costs around 189 or more...
I don't think I need an extra warranty through costco this time.. will cancel and order this one.
Try Denon AVR-S750H 7.2-Channel 4K AV Receiver from Costco at $399.

Does this come with a warranty or is it grey market?
Adorama is authorized clearance reseller. https://www.klipsch.com/authorized-online-dealers [klipsch.com]. I would think the warranty will be good.

I guess it depends on what one defines as mass produced. Some of the internet direct makes (ie RSL, HSU Research, Seaton Sound) could be claimed to not be mass produced given their much smaller scale of business by comparison to the likes of Klipsch, Infinity/Harman, Polk.

They're all mass produced.

There's stuff that is commercially manufactured that I wouldn't call mass-produced. Hifi that you can only get through dealers, made to order by so-called craftsmen i.e. Western workmen in some kind of well-paying capacity, that kind of thing I see as possibly holding some intrinsic value down the line compared to stuff coming out of factories in certain parts of Asia in large volumes, being sold at discount in Costcos and through retailers online. The point being I don't see why someone would be paying any kind of premium later on to obtain these particular speakers when they could just get a deal like this then on what's probably newer and better stuff.

"There's stuff that is commercially manufactured that I wouldn't call mass-produced. Hifi that you can only get through dealers, made to order by so-called craftsmen"

Things made to order by "craftsman". are not "mass produced". That's the opposite of mass produced.

People looking at speakers in this price range aren't in the market for ultra expensive, bespoke speakers.

And these ultra expensive, hand made, bespoke speakers are usually for 2 channel setups. Not home theater. The people in that market usually look down on "home theater gear".

" I don't see why someone would be paying any kind of premium later on to obtain these particular speakers"

A "premium"? I don't recall anyone mentioning that word. The question was... "Do these have any resale value down the line?"

In good condition, these speakers would probably sell for about 1/2 new price. Klipsch is a somewhat popular brand.

Okay thanks for the info. I gave my opinion that they probably wouldn't sell for much in case they were expecting to make money off of these. Getting about half of the cost back like you said is realistically about all you can expect if you want to "rent" these, I would agree.

Thank you! I grabbed one. I was about to buy it a couple of days ago for another small room but decided to wait until a good deal on it. I already have the set in a small room and love it!

This is a great option, although be on the lookout as Costco is selling a newer version, the s760h. The 760h is better for anyone that has or plans to get a next gen console as it supports 4K 120hz pass through.

Can anyone suggest a good 7.1 sound system in a few different price ranges? Under $1k, under $2k and under $3k? Building a home theater in new house with UST projector and ALR screen and want to get a good system but nothing too insane.

You need a 7 ch receiver to run this 5.1.2 set. For additional 2 atmos at the rear ceiling, you need 9 ch av receiver.

I exactly had the same plan - the set of 5.1 klipsch speakers , Denon s760 (new model in Costco). Do I need to get 9.2 for atmos ceiling speakers or can they be fit with 7.2? What's the cheapest 9.2 receiver, budget around 700-800 for receiver?
