Got one for myself last month and it's been a pretty good unit. No complaints so far.

I put together a 3/8" barb to 3/4" FHT adapter, 3/8" inner diameter braided tubing (doesn't have to be braided) and a tube clamp so I wouldn't need to screw a 3/4" garden hose directly to the drain connector on the back of the dehumidifier. See attached pic.

I believe the Danby deal is dead. Online, it's back up to normal price $170 or $180). Has anyone been to a warehouse to see if it's still on sale there?
Out of stock in most stores, but doesn't matter because it was a $35 manufacturer rebate that dropped the price to $145 and that rebate ended.

Own one of these for 2+ years now...paid around $120 then... working as design so far...only used in the humid DC summer... clean filter once a season....it does not come with hose... consider not use hose if unit is placed in a common area where it is easy to notice the bucket is full and can be easily emptied....use water for plants... recommend product 😎

where does the drain hose go?

At my previous house, I had the dehumidifier in the basement (man cave TV room) and the hose went to a drain hole in the far corner.

At my current house, there is not basement because it's a single story 3-bedroom house. There are no drain holes on the floor. I've been trying to come up with a solution for that, instead of emptying the humidifier water bottle manually...

Thanks!
You have three options.
1 Raise the unit above a drain or window somehow or create an exit port through the wall so it can gravity drain.
2 Install a condensate pump to pump the water up.
3 But a dehumidifier with a built in pump.

I bought this July 2020 used it until November 2020 when it was stored for the winter. Upon plugging it in this summer the unit no longer works. Fortunately the warranty is handling it for now but I'm still pretty upset that 4 months of use was enough to kill the machine.

Even at 180, the Costco Danby with pump is a better deal because you can return it for a full refund when it breaks and it will break. Costco Citi card makes it a 4 year warranty.

I had tje same problem and I bought an everbuilt condensate pump. The hose from the dehumidifier goes into the pumps tank and the tank empties out whenever it fills up. The pump came with a hose that pushes the water outside. Never have to worry about emptying it myself.

Yea I'm doing something wrong then.
Check the hose fitting on the dehumidifier itself, unscrew the drain hose you installed and make sure the plug still isn't inserted. If so remove it and reattach the hose. Should drain from hose as opposed to inside the bucket.

I would only buy dehumidifier with pump. I have gravity one and I was lucky to share condensate pump with boiler. If you don't have place to drain. Get unit with pump and drain outside. It will be a bit of work.

I have had one of these running for about a year straight. It isn't perfect, the bucket has to go in just right... But over all have been very pleased with the purchase.

The Danby has internal pump bought 2 at Costco last week. Come with its own hose 16 ft I think. I have mine in washer drain. Danby has 2 yr carry in warranty.
Is the Danby one using a pump that can go against gravity or is it just like a regular drain

Some people buy dehumidifiers with built in pumps so the dehumidifier doesn't have to be higher than whatever they're draining into but they don't sound very reliable to me at all.
We have two GE dehumidifiers with pumps at work. We run them for about 6 months out of the year. No issues at all after 3 years. They pump water into trash cans and than we dump it outside. I have a TCL one with pump, I think the pump will outlast the unit. It makes weird noises when the compressor starts, only had it since last May.

Fair number of reviews from people that received clearly used units.
