I was wondering if anyone can help me. My daughter has wanted a Mac the last few years mainly because it's the "In thing" especially for college students. Being a single mom it wasnt really something I could splurge on. Well things have changed. Promotion and paid my car off this year. I bought her an HP for 350.00 during Covid to finish her Senior year once they were sent home for the remainder of the school year. She used it for her first (2) semesters of college and it's crap. I'd like to get her something better for college this year. But now she's hesitant about the Mac lol. She has
some slight learning disabilities and gets overwhelmed very easily. Shes is now worried that trying to convert to Mac operating systems may be to overwhelming for her because she's only ever used windows. Does anyone have a suggestion of a really good quality windows laptop or should we try out the Mac? I've been asking everyone I know the past year and have gotten no solid advise. School starts in a few weeks and I want to get her something soon. Any help would be greatly appreciated Smilie

There are going to be a lot recommendations, but I personally would try Lenovo from Costco. If your daughter doesn't might the weight (which you didn't specify), https://www.costco.com/lenovo-ideapad-5-pro-16%22-laptop---amd-ryzen-7-5800h---120hz-qhd---windows-1... [costco.com]

This machine is close to $1000, but it has the newest Ryzen chip, it runs windows 10 pro (and they specifically said it can be upgraded to win 11 when the time comes), it has 16GB of RAM, and 1TB of SDD along with a huge beautiful display. If this is too big for you, I'd look around for another Lenovo say the ideapad 3 (Ryzen 7), it can be found for around $600-800.

I personally really like the one from Costco, since you get a 2 + 2 years of warranty (using the Costco citi card). But if not, Costco still has 2 years of warranty along with 90 days return policy.

Aw, I bought last week for $800 from Bestbuy, will they price match?
No. Return and buy again
One of their price match exclusion criteria is:
"Pricing only available to select groups of customers including My Best Buy® members, loyalty offers, discounts relating to non-warehouse membership or paid loyalty programs and government exchange store offers."

I see what you are saying, but they basically lowered the base price, they didn't increase the student discount. So it's really (before) $900 - $100(student discount), (after) $850 - $100(student discount)? Does that still apply?

Oh well, whatever, if they said no I'll just return and buy again.
