I used the original MS ergo 4000 keyboard for years and years (probably bought it 4 times as they wore out) and was so bummed when they discontinued it. Tried this one and had high hopes but it is far inferior in every single way. Less comfortable, looks more dull… returned it and ended up ascending to a mechanical keyboard and am much happier. That's an ugly-ass keyboard.

My current wireless "soft touch" Logitech makes me want to switch to a wired setup. Seems like I miss about one in every 40 keystrokes because the soft touch seems to require a longer travel. At this point, I'd almost have an overly sensitive keyboard.

I have this keyboard. It is not as good as the original Natural or the wireless sculpt keyboard in terms of ergonomics.

If you mean the 4000, they were $350 on Amazon price history tells me down from $400. Here's hoping they last

What did you do to wear out 4 of them?? Embarrassment I've had mine for almost 6 years now (and still 2 unopened in the closet from slickdeals), and use it most every day for at least an hour or two, sometimes for half the day. Sure the pleather finish on the palm rest is gone and you can't read the letters on a number of the keys (s,d,f, c,k,l,m), but it still works fine.

Jackals. Regularly sold for $40 or less, but now people want $400 for them. Maybe I should try and flip the extra couple I have. Smilie Does looks like they regularly go in the $100-$200 range on 'bay in unopened condition. Go figure. Heh, funny that I even resisted buying extra the last couple of times I saw them at under $20 because I already had a couple spares. Hindsight...

still have my original ps2 ms ergonomic keyboard. not one issue in 30 years. they letters are still on the keys, unlike the cheap garbage made today where the letters fade after a few months.

Using this one right now. Not as nice as the 4000, but still not bad. Would like another 4000, but they are like $100+ on eBay. Bummed, because I had an order in with BB on eBay from the last FP deal, but after 3 months of waiting, BB cancelled my order.

oh god.
why Microsoft did not do split spacebar for this model when they splitted the spacebar for the Microsoft 3RA-00022 Surface Ergonomic Keyboard.

i had the Microsoft 4000 keyboard and the spacebar get stuck if you only press down on one side as the spacebar is one whole piece spanning a hump, like this model.

not sure if this model will have the same problem, but Microsoft known this problem and fixed it for other models, but not this one.
this makes me question the quality of this model.

I am using one now and have been for about a year.
The keyboard layout is slightly different than the old white ones, the palm rest is nice, but took me a long while to get used to after using the white ones for decades.
I have about 6 of the old white ones, all work, but dirty... could be usable with good cleaning.
The BIG problem is, they are all ps2 and I have tried several ps2 to usb adaptors, even those designed for such purpose, and they simply don't work.
If anyone has a ps2 to usb adaptor they are using for the old white ergo boards, I would certainly be interested in a link.

Yes, the 4000 is the one, but sales go once in a while. Just broke mines and going to try this one.
I bought a fancy $250 mechanical split keyboard and I still prefer the 4000. The expensive one gave me tendinitis.

Maybe you should clean your keyboard.
