Just a warning about these. Got these a few years ago and the toilet seat would regularly unseat these from the rim. Eventually one got accidentally flushed and it was a nightmare to retrieve with an auger.

I would not recommend.

The one good thing about these vs ones that go in the toilet tank is these won't eat away at the flapper or rubber seals and washers causing the tank to run and/or leak

I definitely did not mismount it. I have a Kohler toilet if that matters.
The problem was that it would hook under the rim but the plastic was cheap and flimsy. My toto toilet seat would apply pressure on top of it and cause the hook to bend upward and unhook from the rim.

How strong is the scent on these? I ended up tossing these [amazon.com]away cause they were so strong of a smell (and my apartment is tiny).

I can totally see that happening…but

My wife has used these a few times in the year on 3 of our toilets without any issues like it falling off and flushed. However, I just checked my toilet and I don't see one present….

Sounds like you mounted them incorrectly. These things tightly hug the rim of the toilet. There is no way in hell they could be flushed because they're securely weighted due to the toilet seat. Only the blue part comes in light contact with flushed water.

The only way for you to have accidentally flushed one would have been for you to not fully extend the mounting hook around the rim of the toilet and merely placed it on top of the rim thinking that was how it worked.

Daily reminder that shampoo bottles have instructions because some consumers are actually that stupid.

Exactly! I used to use the bleach tablet drop ins until I had to replace the entire flapper 2 times because it ratted away. No more in tank additives for me.

Was going to try these and then read this review on Amazon

It made the toilet issues worse.
By mom of 4 on Jul 06, 2020
I love Lysol products and this seems like a no brainer to me. As the mom of two tweens and two teens my toilets get a workout. I was sick and tired of the nasty stains and general gross state my toilets got into way too quickly so I bought these. I scrub my toilets until they were gleaming and added the Lysol toilet hanger tablets thinking problem solved. Wrong. Problem compounded. Now I still have the same dirty toilets but they have this thing that looks like a festering, moldering giant sweet tart candy gone wrong. So now I get to fish this crumbling nasty thing out and clean my toilets again after roughly one week from install date. How annoyed am I? So annoyed that I took the time to come to you and leave a review to warn others.

Bought the Kaboom system at Ace Hardware based on some posts here, and it works p well so far. It just installs inside the tank in between the fill valve and the bowl filler tube (whatever you call it), so it doesn't corrode anything. And it uses chlorine or bromine tablets that last a few months each.

You don't put them on the toliet rim. It's a YouTube video showing you how to use them. You supposed to stick it in the hole underneath the toliet rim. Ijs
