Nice strips and app. The only negative is that the USB ports are not managed at all.
I've become super lazy and really enjoy all of the smart stuff. Barely flip a light switch anymore... I know that may be unpopular decision to some, but I enjoy it all. Everything smart is kept on a separate wifi in my house. (IT geek)

I got this with another sale like it pretty well. Hooked up my computer, monitors, etc. in my home office with this. The only thing I own by this company, but have not had any issues either. And it's neat seeing the power consumption of each plug. Integrates with smart home if you are into that. And you can set things up on a schedule which is pretty nice.

Wouldn't buy full price, but at this would if you are interested in the things above.

Just out of curiosity, what do you guys plug into this that you have 6 devices near each other that need to be individually controlled?

My specific need is to be able to reboot router/switches/raspberry pi (x2)/small server/NAS/PoE wifi whenever they hang and a hard reboot is necessary. More so when traveling and something fails… having to wait until I return home to be able to get it running again has created some problems in the past. I can also imagine some people wanting for their TV/AV systems/ cable box/game console and media players, if they want additional control and/or don't want power consumption as some of those still draw reasonable power when "off"…

I thought with Alexa you can choose which device to be used by Alexa? Couldn't you just exclude this device?

I didn't look into such exception rules. I know I gave alexa rights over the kasa app so it can control the existing devices, which for me is ok when we're talking about lamps and bulbs. Having some small but impactful control over my router, servers etc it's just more than I'm willing to give them…

I also considered creating a new kasa account just for this power strip (eliminating the alexa issues), but then I started looking into versions with energy monitoring and better security…
As covid had me not travel anymore this fell out of priority, but the last solution I was looking at was a KMC 4 smart plug (amazon has it), which has energy monitoring (it would be nice to know what each of the devices is consuming) and you can flash it with a Tasmota firmware for more control, security and home automation…

I found this set up is easier to fit my needs and pocket:

I bought a pair of two-outlet smart plugs (four outlets total)
Plug the smart plugs to my existing power strip.

The smart plug i bought is the Govee brand with both wireless and Bluetooth connections.

Ps. This set up may not be ideal for you if you already have other smart home systems.
You need to download its own app to control it.

Just did a quick look in my Alexa app. You can go into your list of devices, click on the device, click on the gear icon for settings, and turn off the "Enable" switch.

I am also sure when they initially do a discovery they give you a list of devices they discovered that you can unclick if you don't want those devices on Alexa.

Does anyone know of a device that mechanically and physically disconnects l-n-g power to the outlet with a wifi command to provide lightning protection to simulate like unplugging from wall during storms

i have this and it works great. the only feedback i have for the app is not having the ability to turn off your timer without deleting the settings. like i have a ON and OFF for everyday but sometimes I just need to keep everything off. I can't just pause that timer. I have to delete both schedules. Maybe there is a way... but then it's definitely not as obvious as it can be.
I don't haver the HS300 but for other Kasa switches, I am able to turn on / off my schedule without deleting. Here is a pic of the app from my Android phone. The 3rd column on the right is the on / off for the schedule.

BTW, this is my schedule to charge my EV. I avoid charging to 100% for battery longevity. I come here to adjust the charging time because of the lack of vehicle option to stop charging before 100%

Didn't TP-Link disable local control?

Are you using a third party/local control/ Home Assistant/Hubitat style controls?

Does this support the ability to do a reset of a port? I'm asking so that I could click one button so it would turn off a port where my router would then die and I would obviously lose connectivity from remote but then come back on its own, basically a reset or reboot port?

thanks Op, been looking for one of these!

The Web Power Switch was built just for this function, but it doesn't have an app to control it.
It does have a web page, and seems that they've added Alexa compatibility.

It's slightly technical to setup, but the core functionality is to reboot something when it can no longer ping it.
* can't ping Google
* cycle power to internet router
* wait 10 minutes
* try to ping Google again
* repeat

In the end I decided not to go through with it for a completely different reason. I have my Kasa devices connected to Alexa (so I can turn them on and off using voice commands) and just do not want to risk anyone in the family voicing the wrong command or having alexa misunderstand it and turn off the router by mistake....

That would totally suck! Maybe rename device in Alexa app something totally unique to prevent false alarms. Something like "smart network" may work. Choose a unique name that doesn't share any words in other device names and you'll be fine. Multiple words in device name even better.
I recommend "Blathering Blatherskite"

That's really good but it won't work in my application because certain family members may think I am addressing them.

Me: "Alexa, turn off blathering blatherskite."

Daughter: "Mom! Dad just said a bad word!"

Wife: "What the heck did you just call me?!"

Dog: *runs under the bed*

Mailman: Shaking his head, "This family is nuts."

Alexa: Finally responds, "I'm sorry, I am unable to help you with that."

Me: Defeated with rolling eyes, sighs and murmurs, "FML."

This issue only affected some specific older devices. My HS300 works fine in local mode. I use it with Home Assistant, too.

I need to monitor my Sump Pump
Like number of times it come ON/OFF etc and if its working ok or not

This has all the hardware, but not software
Any smart pug i can use ?

This (or the single outlet KP115) cans do what you're describing if you use Home Assistant to control it.

Among other things, I use mine to monitor the time my central vacuum is in use so my kids (and I) know if they've run the vacuum for a sufficient amount of time to get credit for that chore. It logs on/off cycles and time spent in 'on'.

On my list is to monitor the septic tank pump and furnace condensate pump and send an alert if they haven't run a certain amount of time each day/week. Need to figure out what "normal" looks like for those devices by looking at logs.

This capability saved me a headache last year when my septic pump stopped working. I knew something was wrong days before the tank filled up, vs finding out when the tank alarm goes off and then not being able to use anything until it's fixed. Ended up just being a dead float switch and easy fix.

I have two of these. Each is connected to a pure sine wave UPS. The application is the same as most of you above: the ability to remote power cycle devices in case a system hangs. I divided the load evenly between strips. Everything was great for about a month or two. Later, I had random reboots in a critical system (Plex server) that was very problematic. I moved the server to the UPS directly, and haven't bothered to troubleshoot further. I suspect that it could be related to active power conditioning on the power supply of the server, but either way, random reboots at the power strip are unacceptable. YMMV

My power strips are hardware version 1.0

I bought a total of four HS300s. Two I picked up locally at an Amazon Book Store. Two shipped from Amazon. They are old different revisions. The two from Amazon Book Store are version 1.8 with their main power switch on the bottom of the strip. The two from Amazon.com are version 2.8 with their main power switch on the front. The two version 1.8 work fine. But the two version 2.8 gave 4-digit (left to the decimal point) wattage reading for devices that use between 2 to 30 watts. That completely screwed up my Sense Energy Monitor meter data.

I reset and tried configuring them again but that didn't fix the problem. Kasa app didn't have firmware update for the 2.8s. Their tech support was not able to resolve this but forward the problem to their engineering team. I ended up returning the two version 2.8 smartstrips and kept the version 1.8 ones.

I have 3-outlet one, I have never found a chance to use the 3rd outlet. 6-outlet is such a waste on money, as you will have difficulty to have that many appliances at same spot, especially many appliances already have smart features built in. Spend money on two 3-outlet one instead.
