Was just about to comment about this. I haven't used the Stella headphones but I will say the Dekoni Limited Edition Stellia pads on the Elagia sound better than the Celestee with stock pads, IMO.
MASSIVE upgrade over the stock Elagia pad and for $500 or so (before tax) for the Elagia and the Dekoni pads you're getting a killer pair of headphones. Punch way above their price bracket.
I wasn't a huge believer in swapping out pads and stuff but after trying it out I'm a huge fan. Took about ten seconds and it's so easy you could train a chimpanzee to do it.
I also picked these up at the same price in an earlier sale. Super easy to drive and don't need an amp but they do benefit from a better signal and gear. I added a bit of energy in the lower end with an EQ and now find these fantastic for my music taste of classic rock, acoustic, singer songwriter and metal. Pronounced vocals which I like. Strong dynamics. Not the best noise isolation but not terrible. The cord they send with these now is better then the one you see in early reviews. It is now the rubberized one that comes with the Celestee I think. Single ended and short enough for using mobile but not really long enough for a desktop setup. Seems to be decent quality to me and I was able to get the kink out thought it took some time. The case is really nice. Like you will kind of want to show it off nice. Large though as these don't fold up. Build quality and material quality both seem very high to me. The newer Celestee with the leather over the ear cups is a clear step up over these though. For the sale price, these are a good deal in my opinion. You car certainly do worse at this price. .
I got these during the last sale. Great Mids and female voice sound really good. The only problem was that I had ringing in my ears after listening even in really low volumes.. also mid-bass is practically non-existent. Build quality is great... Feels very premium

I have the same ear ringing problem at very low volume, it's strange. My volume is so low that I'm at the bottom end of the volume knob on my JDS Atom so I also have to turn it down in Windows. I'd love to know why.
But I also got them recently on this recurring sale and the soundstage is breathtaking for a closed-back headphone. Bass is present all the way to the bottom frequencies but not very forward or boosted. Highly recommend them.
I agree with the need for EQ. Once you add 1.5db boost for 250hz and a small boost for treble (forget exactly where) these cans shine for anything with vocals imo. They pair extremely well with my Focal Elex, which I use when I want wider soundstage, more dynamic and less boosted mid response
These sound their best with their stock pads and oratory's EQ IMO. However, I've had the dekoni elite non-fenestrated sheepskin pads for a while now, and they do sound better than stock if you don't EQ.
Newest revelation over at head-fi is that the dekoni Stellia pads are even better. One user compared them to his own Stellias and claimed they come remarkably close, and that's almost a $3,000 can. It's incredible the amount of value you get from these.

For those that don't like the sheepskin, elite velour might be another option.

Thank you for the tips! I just bought the DK Stellia LTD pads. Maybe it will save my Elegia's from my eBay sell pile.
I wanted to like the Elegia, and bought them for the closed-back/isolation, but they haven't really done well for that purpose, and I'm use to the sound of my Elex, which probably biases me against them further…
Don't get me wrong they're an ok set of cans they just aren't as good as a fostex or hifiman in the same price. Get the fostex from Massdrop. Better treble bass and Soundstage and very easy to drive.
This is a very good deal considering how much these regularly go for. That being said these are still hardly a value for the price when you look at alternatives for $400. The vocals are accurate and there is a little boos in the upper mids so that you can really feel and focus on most instruments. These sound good especially when paired with a class A amp to remove higher end harshness caused by less than stellar recording.
The problem I have with these is the sound stage, low end, and the sound of the ear cups. These do not provide much sound stage at all, it sounds like your music is being played only inches away from your ears even at low volumes. Even with binaural mixes these sound too close no matter what you pair these with. The low end is tight for what it does play but you're missing sounds/information from the track because the drive simply isn't tuned for bass. When you get up to the low mids and mid mids you can hear the echo from the ear cups. It sounds like your head is inside of a bucket and sound is being reflected. This isn't the worst thing and it could've been done intentionally to mimic a little reverb, but it was done in a weird manner. It's almost like you're listening to an out of phase set of speakers and it causes a tactile and uncomfortable sensation in the inner ear.
I wouldn't tell someone not to buy these, I would just want to make sure they're using these for classical, female vocals and almost mixing level detail for instruments. Other than that there are far better headphones, for music consumption, in this price range.

I'm a fan of the Sundara's as one of them under 500
