I don't think it has Dolby vision.
I own this with a Dolby Vision enabled LG OLED TV. Despite the lack of DV, it's a great player and the picture from a disc appears superior to any Dolby Vision 4K streaming content I've encountered. So with or without Dolby Vision, it's gorgeous. As an added plus, if you use it to listen to CDs or blu ray audio, the sound is excellent.
Tempting to buy for my Bedroom TV that I never watch movies on. But lack of DV has me wavering.

Speaking as someone who owned two different UBP-X700's, they are absolutely AWFUL and you shouldn't even hesitate to get the Panasonic (what we recently switched to) at the same price point.. I go into more detail on the other SD thread for the UBP-X700.

Just picked up the DP-UB420 last week at full price ($249), and so far (knock on wood) it's been absolutely stellar!! Was able to price-adjust through Best Buy, so it ended up being an even better deal than I thought.

It's got HDR10+ for all of us Samsung TV people!

That's not really as braggy as you think it is. HDR10+ is the same thing as HDR10 only it adjusts its settings for each scene. It doesn't give you anymore colors or contrast than regular HDR10. Dolby Vision gives you over 15 BILLION more colors, and far better contrast, than HDR10/HDR10+.

Can anyone suggest a 4K player with DV that is reasonably priced and works well? Thanks

No Dolby vision? Then its garbage. Hdr + is too late to the party, it's dead in the water.

HDR10+ being late isn't the issue. The issue is that HDR10+ is just the same thing as HDR10, when it comes to colors and contrast. The only difference is that it adjusts the settings for each scene.

May not have DV, but it does have an HDR optimizer, which in practical application will be more than enough for most users.

The interface on the Sony is absolutely laughable (having owned one). Not that the Panasonic is incredible, but at least it's still relatively clean.

Lol that's why the Panasonic 820 exists.

Is "it doesn't have DV" the Covid era version of "no HDMI"?

Oh I know it's not braggy. I wish I had Dolby Vision but I also don't want to buy another TV. I probably should've done a little more research before I bought mine. Still, HDR10+ is better than regular HDR10.

Are you referring to the $147 Panasonic DP-UB150-K at Target (https://www.target.com/p/panasoni...82737943)? That's a different player than the one being discussed in this thread and also sold by a Target partner.

The Target one is UB150, this is UB420... Just a heads up...

I wonder why 4K players have remained so expensive.
If it had recording capabilities... I would understand.

Why wouldn't someone just buy an Xbox One S? Looks like all the of meaningful features are present.
