These are CMRLinux smartctl indicates they are helium-filled, 7200rpm drives. Ran Crystal disk info on these while in a dock. They show 100% for the helium level and they all read 7200rpm. |

If Best Buy employee has trouble finding where to locate the coupon follow these steps!
"Traded in a hard drive and got an additional 15% off. $170 before tax out the door. Additional 10% off chase offer for Best Buy brings this down to $153 not including tax!
Best Buy employee has to click "recycle and save" and go through the process. Later there is a part where they can click landline, that is where the coupon is hidden!"
The required tab is hidden from lower level Best Buy employees. If they can't find it, a more senior level associate or manager needs to login to see it.

^^re this suggestion: A basic employee at the counter had not even heard of this program (even though it has been ongoing for months). He could not find it following the (previously provided here in the wiki) instructions on where to look. He called the manager, who told him they have never been able to complete this process. Next ,the counter guy was trying to pass the buck back to me to go online and look for a mail-in trade-in your storage item option, or call 800-Bestbuy. (FYI there is not even any proper automated option to get to a human that I could work out. So after a couple of dead-end attempts, I picked sales to try to get to a human and was on hold for a while, refreshed this page and then saw this new suggestion.
Then I advised counter person that a management-level employee may need to login to see the option.
Moments later the management-level guy still had no luck finding it trying the methods already mentioned in this wiki.
Bottom line is while I was still on hold, the manager advised the counter person to give me a manual 15% off of a WD drive and I bought it. I would have preferred to have it shipped and use the coupon online and access extra cashback available. This way was still an equivalent for an either/or situation with the savings up-front instead of later with CB sites (10% + 5% as detailed in the thread somewhere).
---My experience- long term.
I hate how these trade-in offers @BB are often impossible to work out for their employees. No one communicates how to do them to the stores, apparently. Even after having these for many years, it is always a gamble to show up to try, based on who you end up getting at the counter, or else not even the management knows.

There is no stated end date on the recycle and save promo but the discount voucher has a valid date of 8/8/21 to 01/29/23 so get the voucher and bank it for the next 15 months.
This is what the voucher looks like. [ibb.co]
For those price matching earlier purchases, the web price match form failed for me - be sure to web chat and get your price match honored!

Will go from 2x12tb and 2xEmpty at 12TB total protected to 38TB total protected. That should be enough for me for a very long time as I'm only at 80% of my current maximum.
I'll hold onto them until BF to make sure something better doesn't pop up. Don't need to install right away.
I'd have an additional backup of a completely different drive just in case. Hard drive quality in general may have dropped in recent years. Personally, I will likely be using multiple smaller hard drives after extensive research.
I grabbed an old 80GB spinner on my way to Best Buy and they were able to apply the discount at the register at pickup.
Tip- have the "Recycle and Save" URL already up on your phone when you go in because none of the employees had heard of the offer and it took them 10 minutes to figure out how to issue the coupon.
Bring in a hdd or USB and get a coupon
I am pretty sure they used to allow online orders to be placed in the store so you could use a store coupon. Not sure if they still do. But I have a memory of doing that (whether or not my memory is accurate). They'll print out the receipt for you afterwards so you can track the shipping

Pair that with this deal and you're golden.
FWIW I did this type of deal a few weeks ago. The associates said the HDD Recycling is under a different section in their system IIRC it was under "trade in" instead of "e-waste recycling" the associate told me he doubted the coupon would stack but when we got back to the register, boom, it just worked no special approval nothing. 15% off the sales price.
How's $170 for 14TB ? Got get your free Microcenter thumbdrive and flip it for 14TB for sub $13/TB
