Newegg use to be my goto but has went way down hill. My last transaction with them (and will always be my last) I bought some case fans, the wrong ones. I noticed seconds after ordering and I couldn't cancel on the site. Call CSR and they said they couldn't cancel it at that time and to just return it after I received it. Then after I received it they said that item can't be returned even if it's unopened. I should have refused delivery but the CSR said a return would not be a issue. They didn't even attempt to help a long term customer who had used them for over a dozen builds through the years. If I can't trust them I can't use them.

Great deal for the PS5. These prices are dropping more quickly than I had anticipated. Don't forget to put a heatsink on it if you are getting it for the PS5. The heatsinks are around $10-$15 on Amazon.

Bro, not true. When you click to 500 gb, it redirects to SN750(!!!), that is different model. So just be careful.

Would this Gen 4 drive work on a laptop that supports Gen 3?
Yes but it will run at slower gen3. You can get 1TB Gen3 drive for under $100 now days. But if plan to upgrade to Gen4 computer later you can swap it to new computer.

Good catch!! Not sure why they switch the link on that page. It looks like they do also have the 500gb on sale for $95 but unsure why it is listed as stand alone product. Says its gen 4 but maybe different model?

This one, gen4 SN850 500gb, is $95. But why buy 500gb for $95 when 1TB is $150 for the newegg deal. Most places are selling the SN850 1TB for $165 which historically is a good price.

The WD SN product pages are messed up on BB in general. Switches between SN850 and SN750 then you get stuck on all SN750 at some point even though it lists two capacity versions next to each other.

This one goes perfect with the WD.
Forgive me is this is dumb but isn't that a little big for the PS5? This one seems like it's a much smaller profile and would fit a lot better if the first one fit at all: https://www.amazon.com/Sabrent-M-...B07TN2RX2K You're sure the one you linked will fit in there?

I bought the Sabrent. Replaces the factory plate and uses negative space to help with cooling.

If you are buying this for PC use and have an AMD x570 based motherboard, youll need to download and update the firmware, x570 boards have a known issue with this SSD that causes significant performance loss and thus an update was made to mitigate the issue, no other platforms are affected.

I know why is on sale - I bought one a few weeks ago. COME ON MAN.

It's blazing fast, at least on benchmarks CrystalkDiskMark has is pretty much double the speed of my other Gen 3 M.2 SSD.

Good for PS5 but are these Gen 4 drives making any kind of practical difference in PCs yet?
Not talking benchmarks, actual application

Yes, but would be a waste of money unless you plan to swap it into a gen 4 capable laptop later.
Quote from JCao :
Technically yes, but it's a waste. Gen 3 drives are quite cheaper. You would only get a Gen4 for a Gen3 laptop if you plan to remove it and put it into a Gen4 slot next year or something?

If you're not planning to remove it and take it... just get a Gen3 since that's how it would perform.

Edit: I'm also saying "next year" since I anticipate drive prices to drop eventually. So if you want a fast hard drive for much later... just buy it much later when you need it.

Yep, just trying to future proof and also my thinking is that a Gen 4 drive is more likely to saturate the 4GB/S max bandwidth on Gen 3 bus than a Gen3 drive would.
