We have a 1100w version. It works but it is loud and bluetooth is very flaky to the point we've given up on it. We bought it as a backup unit since our original Joule started acting up. Still use it for long runs e.g. brisket, etc.

If I had to do it all over again I'd just get the Anova kit at Costco for $150.

Hmm, lots of reviews (at least on the 1100W one) about how it arrived DOA or stopped working after one or two uses. One person even mentions getting a replacement that died quickly again. That's unfortunate since it otherwise seems to be a good unit at a good value.

I've been using the 800w twice a week for over 2 years. It's a great unit.

Umm I have the 1100w one and it does not have BT(unless I missed it in the owners manual)
Either way mine is quiet and works fine. I really should use it more.

Sorry about that, didn't realize there were multiple Monoprice 1100w models. I have this one https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=36739

It is much louder compared to Joule

I have the 1100W version. Was never able to connect to wifi to use the "smarts", but manual it works great.

I got this thing a few years back. It's phenomenal. Love cooking sous vide.

I have the 800W one. There is one very annoying design problem with it that I presume doesn't affect the 1100W digital control version, that you have one "roll" of the knob only changes the temperature about 2 degrees. Sometimes I just want to defrost something quickly so I'll set the temperature to about 50 degrees so it doesn't heat. It literally takes about a minute of fumbling with the mouse wheel to bring it from 160.

One other annoying caveat is that if you forget to check ahead of time, it's hard to determine which direction the jet is facing without turning off the unit and removing it from the water.

Otherwise, it works well, has lasted two years, is quiet, easy to clean, etc.

Has anyone been able to get the Android app to work with this? Mine won't show any food options once I connect it.

My 800w model developed an annoying rattle after a few cooks, but is still working 2-3 years later. Is the 1100w quieter? Is the barrel same diameter to fit my chopped cooler?

I bought the 1100 W one about two months ago. When it was a white housing.

Works so far.

Should be noted that the instruction requires 10 Quart as a minimum amount of water.

When I first got it I used it in a 6 quart stock pot, and the device would start and stop every 40 minutes or so, and I would have to reset it.

When I moved to a 12 qt stock pot, I did a whole chicken and I didn't need to restart it once.

I'm using it now in a 12 qt food storage from rubbermaid.

Avoid using anything metal, make sure the container is a good heat insulator, and toss some trivets under it.
