This was around $1900 from best buy. I got mine in like 3 days from there, so far I mostly like it.. couple issues is the keyboard is reallly compact to the point I might lug around my ergo keyboard if I go anywhere with it. They put a full number pad on it, which squishes the actual keys you spend 99.9% of your time using too close together. I haven't run any real performance tests on it so I'm hoping it will be fine. It's lighter than I expected, and I like the outside is pretty plain, no crazy gamer stuff there. The keyboard has crazy rgb backlights if you like that, I was able to turn them off easy enough. The built in webcam is mediocre.
Personally I'd also prefer a prettier display over a fast one. I've used 60hz screens, max 120hz, all my life. I haven't had a 1080p screen for like 5 years though so it feels weird, but most of the time I use it with an external monitor. But for a 3080 it's still a decent deal, most of the great deals so far have been 3060, or 3070.
OP's deal of $2k after a mail in rebate isn't great though with all the other deals going on and still plenty of days left for Black Friday promotions. It's ok.. but there will probably be better ones.
This is the yd-74, which has 16gb of dedicated video memory for the 3080, where the yd-73 has 16gb of which 8gb is shared. This isn't the exact laptop from the best buy deal.
It also has thunderbolt, so this *might* have a mux switch. The best buy yd-73 definitely does not.
I just bought the recent best buy 73, and it's a really nice machine. As mentioned above, the keyboard is cramped and I'd also prefer a qhd screen, but make no mistake, this is a fast machine.

What does Thunderbolt needs to do with having MUX Switch? Based on your logic, then no AMD laptops shouldn't be having MUX switch, which is clearly not the case.
Now, to answer your question, this Laptop and the BestBuy Laptop, are exactly same, except this has a 16GB version of the RTX 3080. Neither has MUX switch and both have Thunderbolt 4. That 16GB of Video Memory does not give any advantage to this model in gaming at 1080p or even at QHD. In 4K, there may be some difference with 16GB video memory but that is miniscule. Suggest you to check some reviews about the comparison of 16GB and 8GB version of RTX 3060.
Really would like to know what monster okayed the AC adapter port being on the middle of the right hand side of every single one of these laptops Gigabyte is making now.
This is tempting, but I need that $2100 legion 7 3080 16gb deal that just passed to come back around😩😩😩😩🙏🏼

Where was that deal, and think it'll come back??
The deal never really ended. It's been going in and out of stock all week. I actually placed an order yesterday. $2139.99 w/ coupons before tax + $171 in cashback.

Thanks for letting me know, I did see it back in stock just not at 2100, I'm assuming thats after the coupon code is entered.
