The 2-pack is also $159.99. So if you want two HomePod Minis you're only paying the $2.99 shipping once instead of twice for two individual units.

For a few years we had five 3rd gen Amazon Echo Dots around the house. They didn't sound too bad, perfectly acceptable for the size and price. Earlier this year I picked up a 4th gen Echo Dot to replace one that was getting a little flaky. The 4th gen Echo Dot's sound was noticeably poorer---it lacked depth and bass relative to the 3rd gen. Thinking it may have bene defective, Amazon support swapped it out--and the replacement 4th gen sounded just as underwhelming. I sent it back and picked up a refurb 3rd gen.

Fast forward to today, when Best Buy had that $75 deal we picked up five Homepod Minis and sold all the Echo Dots--we primarily have Apple devices otherwise, I wanted to just have one company surveilling our home. Overall I think Homepod Minis sound better then the 3rd gen Echo Dots--which themselves were superior to the 4th gen Echo Dots. The Homepod Minis may have slightly more bass than the 3rd gen Echo Dots--though not by much--but the sound is richer and more pleasing in general. They also sound quite nice when run together as a stereo pair.

Are they worth the premium over the Amazon devices? Hard to say. On sound alone, for the price--maybe not, if you can get the Amazon devices for cheap like they are now. But for us, factoring in ecosystem integration, performance (commands we often use are executed a little quicker than Alexa), dropping to one smart home surveiller, we are happy with the purchase.
I know others do, but I just don't "return" a year+ old product. Seems odd, I've heard people return their 18 month old product successfully etc, I've never tried.

I'm curious if AppleCare warranty means product gets 2 extra from Costco Citi card. 4 year combined warranty sound nice.

tried one more time.. the representive said there is $20 difference, I said yes, he asked me to order and share the number, I did and shared but he simply transferred to someone else who said can't refund until the order is delivered. WTF!!
It will be delivered in the morning, will reach out again and see what they say.

Yep, as long as you want two white or space gray. Also can't get AppleCare for some reason on the 2 pack, if you were considering that.

If you want AppleCare+, it's $98 after shipping for a HomePod mini with AppleCare (80+3+15).

Not sure how the Costco Citi card works here, possibly not a product that fits the 2 year warranty.

AppleCare only applies to a single device even if you buy it in a bundle and Costcos system probably can't 2 AppleCares to the cart if there's only one item.

Apple lets you buy AppleCare after purchase so you may be able to get it from them directly.

Where are you getting the original HomePod from? I'd prefer that just for the Spatial Audio but your not going to find that anywhere reasonably priced.

Quick question. With Alexa I can say turn on x and y room lights. With Siri (on my phone/watch) I have to give two separate commands for two rooms. Is there a way around it? I wanna make the switch as well.

Hmm, considering two for TV speakers with the ATV. We have a large Living Room/Kitchen with 10' ceilings and the wife will not allow a soundbar or wires strung about, period. Our 75" Samsung QLED speakers are godawful.

I'm thinking I could put a R/L on the mantle and the white would blend in nicely. We do have power on both sides (built-in bookshelf) but I won't be running any HDMI/audio cables.

Is the latency fine for Right/Left using an ATV 4 & &AirPlay?

Yeah no issue with that, only latency is when you try to use it as a pure computer speaker

Say, "Siri, turn on lights everywhere" or "Siri, turn on lights in living room and kitchen."
