There's comments like this in every MacBook Air M1 thread, but have no clue what they're talking about. Look into how this thing actually performs instead of thinking it's the same as the Intel chipsets with 8gb of ram.

A year old laptop that is going to run circles around any other comparably priced laptop.

Costco has two years warranty, so that's a plus

Just a hunch but I bet you use doordash a lot and even when you have the time to actually go get the food. Never mind the actual cooking of one's own food.

I have until Jul 2022 to buy this macbook for one of my relative. Should I buy now or you think similar or better price will be available later?
By Jul2022, you might hear about M1X or M2 coming for MacBook Air. You might want to hold on to your purchase for a better laptop but that's not on sale. Then you will want to wait until thanksgiving 2022, and then the deal will not be like this and you will wait until the next best sale….. it will be forever.

Hi, you misunderstood me. In order to deliver this laptop, I will have to travel and I am traveling in Jul 2022. So irrespective of what models are coming or price I will have to buy this at that time.

how does costco warranty work? or is it if you used a costco credit card? so there won't be a need for apple care on it?

All of the color options are available. I think the OP just linked the gold version.

How bad performance compared to MBP? Not sure which one I should pull trigger. Normal business/ study, and light video user.

There's a MBP 13 and a MBP 14(new spec)

None the less, for all of our use case the air is 100% great.

I went for it in gold, but all colors are available for the same price. Tried to PM Best Buy online, but they said they froze their price matching policy during Black Friday. Thx OP!

Have this and a couple of things to know
macbook Air m1

1. It does not support 2 external monitors natively. You will need a displaylink compatible hub that is around $150

2. A problem with screen spontaneously cracking. This happened to me last week. There's a class action lawsuit against Apple.

You're forgetting that people like me never have time for anything because we're too busy sorting through 300 open tabs.

Unfortunately the m1 chip only supports 1 external display. This might be a dealbreaker for some that need multiple external displays. Rumors have it the the m2 will support multiple displays, but who knows when that will happen.
You can easily fix that with a $100 hub and Displaylink drivers. I'm running 3 monitors on my M1 not including its own display. The hub also adds 15 or so ports and only uses up one thunderbolt port on my MBP while also charging it.
