in for an 8TB one for my NAS, which has only a normal 8TB WD HDD w/o redundancy.
I think it's OK to mix NAS HDD and non-NAS HDD for raid.

Last two shopping trips I made at WDs store through that site didn't register cash back. Both times during big sales. Wouldn't count on it working, but who knows

This is a fair point, but it worked for me. Ordered yesterday and got the reward notification today. In the past, I've worked with their support on non-WD purchases and they have honored the purchase every time retroactively . But obviously YMMV. FWIW this purchase was done through their mobile app. I've had good luck with it so far.

Purchased the one on Amazon..Do shop enough on Rakut"n to make the cash back worth it for me..Can always return it with Amazon's holiday return policy...

OK, the cash back showed up today. Good deal. Makes this deal even better than buying via newegg and getting the 15% off for agreeing to pay in installments, because you can get another 5% by paying with Paypal on WD's site.
