I got the initial version 256gb for $70 7 years ago, and it is still rocking the market with a 70 MB/s writing and 130 MB/s reading. Kind of wondering why the speed is not improving over time for USB drives.

You can bet on it that the one you got 7 years ago is 100% different from the one they are selling. Only the brand name is still the same.

Exactly. Inferior product at this point 7 years later is surprising.

Definitely the case with these PNY Turbo drives.
I've bought these over the years, and the oldest ones were blazing fast, over 150MB/s write. Semi-old ones could still do 90MB/s write, and the ones from the past few years are the usual crap with terrible write speeds.

The mechanism for moving the USB port in and out of these is clunky and frustrating, just FYI.

Thanks for the info, I just retested my drive, turned out that's with 130 MB/s seq write and 180 MB/s seq read! Definitely the prime version. Best investment xD!

I don't know if this is the exact same one I used for work some years ago, but it failed within the first few months of use. It abruptly croaked in the middle of a large file write. It could not enumerate anymore afterwards. I've been sticking to Samsung USB drives ever since with no issues. No more PNY and Sandisk drives for me.

im in search for a 256gb to store music and videos, reading reviews on every brand-name and non-brands on these USB flash drives show they ALL are hit or miss, including samsung sandisk etc, always many 1* reviews mixed with 5*. Is it just too many fake products, or just cant find a reliable quality control no more

How is this a slick deal? Are we adopting Amazon's List Price as gospel here folks?
Bring back the days of Fat Wallet when someone would have pointed out that on Camel, Camel, Camel this has been the average price for 6 months! At most it has had a few days when it's been $2 more. How much is a "small share of the sale" Slick Deals?
