I read a lot of books through KU. I mean A LOT. This helps me filter through books that look okay on the store page but end up turning out to be garbage without having to make any substantial monetary investment. The books and authors that I DO find I like can then get their KU royalties, and then a little bit later down the line I can further support their work while also getting a copy for myself.

I wish I had started doing this earlier, as I unfortunately found that a several of the indie authors that I really enjoyed reading eventually had their stories pulled from checkout/sale on Amazon after the agreed term expired. In many cases after the author passed away, leaving no legal way to obtain a copy from a retailer. One of the more memorable authors would have been Brent Roth, writer of the dragon's wrath series. https://www.reddit.com/r/litrpg/c..._continue/
He posted regular updates on his website and started putting out chapters for his fourth book in the series. The first chapter was a couple days late, the second chapter was 2 weeks late, and then he was never heard from again. Unfortunately because the author was very private and writing under a pen name, no one ever found out what happened to him. After a while his first and then second books were taken down on the anniversary of the date that they were originally published, likely because he was not present to renew the agreement with Amazon. 😞
Amazon/ku loses a pretty significant amount of money to royalties for the number book that I read on the platform in any given year. 😅
Here is the simple/direct URL to the Amazon KU promotion. I dislike having to login from a long referral link.

Edit: oh, also, be sure to check the rewards/offers on your credit card before you sign up for this. Chase, for example, had a 20% back up to $6 when you activate the offer and buy a Kindle unlimited subscription. $6 is $6. 👍

If you have Amazon prime only you should also have access to a (much smaller) selection of Kindle books without any additional charge.

That maxes out at $6!
I'm shocked anyone pays what they ask.
I have the 6 month offer for $30 and just ignore it.
EDIT: should note, this quality assessment is for new books added to / written for KU.

Thanks, this worked for me! Usually when I've purchased this deal in the past, I've been able to purchase two 6 month offers to create in effect a 12 month subscription for $60, but i wasn't allowed to sign up for more than one six month subscription at this rate. Was anyone able to sign up for more than one term?

By disabling the referral link in the post, isn't that denying credit to either SD, or to whoever made the original post?

$9.99/month for Kindle Unlimited plus $21/month for Paperwhite for 5 month.
Now, I am wondering, if 25% off Paperwhite from this deal stack with 20% off trade-in code for new Paperwhite?
So I can't really test it out.
I borrow ebooks through local library all the time. But I understand some books are not available or have a long waiting list, so it's convenient for some people to use Kindle Unlimited subscription.
I do like to check out books from libraries online, but the problem with that is the very significant lag from when authors release a new book to when it is actually added to a library's inventory. It seems like it's usually between 8-10 months for most of the online services I use.
On the flip side, there are a lot of books you can find in libraries that you won't ever see on KU or any other paid service,(often because the authors have passed away and or the publishing company has closed) I'd recommend any avid readers definitely look into public libraries and the archives online, you can find some real gems here and there that are no longer in print. 💎

Props to supporting indie authors. Unless someone is writing/ publishing yourself you dont realize all the costs for 'putting a book out there'. Decent covers cost a bit ( time / effort if you craft it ypurself), editor, proof reader, formatted ( software, time, effort if you do it yourself), advertising budget/time, not to mention time and effort actually writing the book. People should continue to purchase books or at least use KU rather than pirating them. Authors generally enjoy writing bit need to make some profit in order to continue writing. Otherwise they'll find another job and no more great books. Dont start a debate saying book piracy doesn't hurt anyone. The author made a huge effort to produce a book they should get something for that effort. More than a 'thank you'. Use a library if you dont want to buy it. Taxes go to support libraries, well maybe not your taxes if you're unemployed.... Regarding being in KU unless the author consciously goes into their account and u -clicks a box the book will remain in KU. It's a 90 day period then 'renews' automatically. Regarding royalties - they dont see them till 90 days later. $ for books sold this month ( december) won't make it to authors account till end of march 2022......

I've been using Kindle Unlimited for quite a few years now. When deals like this come up I like to assess if I am getting my moneys worth.
So I added up the selling price of all the books I read on KU for the last 6 months. The total was $147.30. Being that a 6 month subscription is $47.86 I proved the point to myself. I actually save even more than that as I always subscribe for 1 year.
I also have read quite a few free books. More than half the time I find an author or series that I like so I look at what else they have written. A lot of the time they are involved with KU so I can keep reading the series for free - or within my subscription.
So yes, KU is well worth it to me. I would be lost without my Kindle Paperwhite and my KU subscription.
