For those who don't quite need over 500GB of fast storage space, this seems to be a good deal on a refurb 870 evo ssd internal sata drive.
(Usage isn't strictly for internal drive only, but usually it is.)

Samsung 870 Evo 500GB ($39.99): https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sams...Id=6451688
Samsung 870 Evo 1TB ($69.99): https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sams...Id=6451687
(These items frequently go back in stock and oos much, so if you don't see it in stock check back in a few hours every so often...)

Other notable internal SSD refurbs:
Samsung 970 EVO Plus 500GB M.2 NVMe ($44.99): https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sams...Id=6351465
Samsung 860 EVO 1TB SATA ($74.99): https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sams...Id=6252149
Samsung 980 1TB NVMe ($89.99): https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sams...Id=6457127

I don't think they are actually "refurbishing" them. I think the returns that have very little use and are in decent condition are put up for sale like this. I bought a Geek Squad Refurb Powerbeats Pros a few months back and they were essentially brand new. I couldn't find any signs of wear or anything.

They rub monster cables on the casing.

I was given an internal document from Geek Squad. They run the RAM through their neckbeard and if the static from years' worth of basement lint doesn't destroy the memory, repackage it for sale. The quality control is unparalleled.

Yes however if your mother board have m.2 slots buy the nvme. It much much better than ssd.

Since these are "Refurbished", it is priced based on the physical condition of the unit, i.e. length of use (TBW used or remaining), scratches, wear, etc.

Yea. Should be fine. No nvme slot on that mobo? 870 will work alot better than mechanical hd.

I believe the 980 Pro was mislabeled, its a regular 980, according to the 1 review for the listing.
How do these Geeks refurbish these things again? Do they have mini soldering irons?

good deal, bought 860 250gb refurb evos last week at $32 per.

Also, as a fyi, had great results with bestbuy refurbs in terms of TBW. So far, all (6+) have had a very low count

3,500/3000 MB/s Read/Write, 300TBW (equivalent to 600TBW for a 1TB drive), TLC, DRAM. Samsung's full-on Gen3 offering.

Yes, it's refurbished, but it's also keenly priced. My understanding is that these typically have little prior use on them.

Agree. I think they mostly just re-box them, as you say.
