Not much difference if u just want a steaming player that works. But then if that's the bar there are far cheaper options like google tv. But if u do care about upscaling capability and other expandability such as hosting plex, pro is a way more capable box.

Pro has OOMPH and can multi-task multiple apps with 0 hiccups, it has 2x the memory, and it has USB port for additional storage.

Don't waste a dime on the round shit version. You want the best streaming box that will run circles around built in Android TV? Get the pro. When you hear about the complaining about ads, blow it off because none of it has anything to do with streaming, functionality, or anything else, and, besides, all Android TV devices have them AND you can customize the front screen anyway to reduce them to a pittance.
