I can pull about 90% speed from the wifi backhauled satellite over wifi. Nothing else I've had even came close, even other tribands.
They update the firmware pretty regularly, the system is ultra configurable. My only complaint is the price. I paid full price for them which hurt the wallet. But they were worth it then, and definitely worth it at this price.
All of that said, one has to decide whether 6e is important. Asus has already released a new version of this, which uses 6e as the backhaul. So no client connections, oddly enough.
If 6e takes off, this is a lot of money for something that's outdated. But I personally think it will take years until that day comes.
Frequent disconnects and ultra low speeds. My outdated google wifi works reall well with a stable connection and Orbi failed miserably. My ISP speed is 600/600 when measured at Orbi ports. Orbi only delivers 100mb max. Most frustrating issue is disconnects. 5 out of 10 ping to the gateway 10.0.0.1 get timed out.
Because of those issues i bought this XT8. I observed the speed is slightly better than Orbi as it is about 250 mbps still not even close to ISP speed. The problem with disconnects is there with xt8 too but not frequent as Orbi. Upgraded the firmware from the factory flashed version as suggested by the support. No change.
The disconnects seems to be specifically for 5GHZ-1 band whereas 2 4 and 5GHZ-2 works well most of the time.
Im thinking of returning both Orbi and this xt8 back to the store and wait until i get something stable with a decent speed. Going back to my Old google wifi refurb. Pretty old, but stable.
These junk boxes not worth the money.
Not sure how many of you experienced such issues..but i will not shell out money for the highly unstable firmwares.
Note: AT&T gateway configured for IP passthru fixed mode. All radios , packet filters and firewalls disabled.
