Can't really describe it. I owned a bunch of premium laptops and nothing really compares to the Thinkpad.
I currently own an Alienware x15 r1 but I owned other generation Alienwares too, Razer blades, Lenovo legions, asuses, you name it.
I always return to the Thinkpad. There's something about the balance that they nail perfectly.
If the laptop is just sitting on the desk, almost every other laptop is better but if you hold it on your lap on a couch or on the bed, Thinkpad has everyone beat.
performance on the Thinkpad is worse than the competition at this price but that's not what they're aiming for
Says ships in +4 months
Looks like a nice machine but a bit too rich for my blood. :/

I get that 90% of laptop components are made in China. You don't have to patronize Lenovo however, which is a Chinese owned company
Why does it matter which assholes on top earn the bonuses when literally the same kids/slaves are putting it all together? Besides even if that's the thing you weirdly cared about ethically, the thinkpad line was sold to lenovo by IBM. The US assholes on top already cashed their fat checks many years ago.
3070 and up get vapor chamber cooling due to TGP requirements. Thats the main advance of the P1 Gen4 vs the P1 Gen3...otherwise it would still be stuck with 16xx/30xx options.
I bought the X1 G4 with similar specs with the only notable difference being a 4K screen a month ago. Ended up returning it as it ran extremely hot and noisy on idle. Battery life is also terrible as soon as something activates the RTX 3070.
If you care about thermals, noise, and/or battery life don't buy it.
I had exactly the same experience. Don't bother getting a thinkpad anything with higher than 3070. My 3050ti QHD works super well though.
Agreed. The fact that Asus has been building highly rated AMD with dGPU gamer laptops with very good battery life (like the ROG Zephyrus G14 and G15) shows that it's possible. The G14/15 also do not run full wattage through the GPU but apparently performance is still quite good even with a relative light laptop (under 4lb for the G14 and about 4.5lb for the G15). If we had that but in a Thinkpad motif (style, ports, keyboard, trackpoint), I would gladly pay a premium for that. That's what I can't understand about PC laptops, they can't seem to build a laptop with great processing/graphics horsepower, good battery life AND good aesthetics. Apple has been doing this for years…
Apple has poor keyboards compared to Thinkpads. Add the fact that everything is soldered and it's a non-starter for many.

Apple is made by Honhai Precision limited (in Shenzhen, China) - they are known as Foxconn.
I honestly have no idea who makes Dell machines. My guess is the lowest bidder, knowing how Dell operates.
And I hope LM is not Liquid Metal.
It is and I guess you replied to the wrong person lol

I thought tax free weekend only applied to school supplies and clothing?

I tried both non-vapor and vapor cooling devices and non-vapor version worked quieter and cooler.
Only the T1200 and A2000 go without the vapor chamber.

Two significantly different use cases. This is a gaming focused laptop which will also be good at general purpose content creation.
The new Pro and Pro Max as focused on content creation primarily. Plenty of reviews out there.
