If you want to do the experiment in the best manner, hold your arm out with the weight in hand. Then, do the same thing but put the weight on your upper arm, using your other hand to hold it in place. Ankle weights are good for this example since they won't crush your foot to dust if they fall. Closer to the joint means less torque for your muscles to overcome. The same exact weight acts as if it's heavier or lighter based on where it is.
Dude I know how leverage works, but your example is 100% gibberish. As far as weight used for major muscle group exercises, back is second to legs while shoulders is last. Comparing back and shoulders in terms of weight is entirely nonsensical.
And yet, every year, a bunch of people break their backs because of the torque of 20lbs of snow on a shovel a long distance away from the fulcrum.

When the weight stack is providing more resistance than the stated weight it has to travel MORE distance than the user. Your fulcrum example shows this.

In reality, levers/pulleys aren't usually the only way this is handled in these machines. Some use spring equivalents (Bowflex) and some use variable friction. The most common setup is to use pulleys with unequal amounts of cables on one side, not dissimilar to the physics problem where you stand on a platform and elevate it by pulling on a rope draped over a pulley vs someone else pulling that rope.

Does the weights come in the other box? I started assembling with one box thinking I have everything. After unpacking the box and laying everything on the floor, I am seeing that the weights are missing.
Now what mat to buy for it to cover this plus some extra space? Any suggestions?

Same what's a good map for this on carpet. And 36 in is 3 ft so it's just a little over 3 ft wide and 5 ft 3 inches Long
