Knowing Makita, the slow charger (pretty sure I found it on their site, but don't have the model handy) will treat batteries about the same as the rapid charger in terms of babying them - it works slower because it can't cool the batteries. Rapid one communicates with the pack and keeps the temp low enough to charge at the pace that it does without much effect otherwise. Would be cool if project farm or similar tested the packs by running them down a few hundred times and recharging on different chargers.
String trimmer is indeed pretty efficient, though I had to respool it because it wasn't unspooling and was tangled internally. Blower absolutely chews through 4ah batteries, but it also pushes a silly amount of air for a tool that size.
