The sony also just beats out LG for image quality so not sure what you mean. Side by side screens really show how crushed LG is compared and upscaling is also much better as well as calibration out of the box.

I think OLEDs will keep improving on brightness year after year, maybe 2023/24 when it will be on par with LEDs and they becoming mainstream (unless of course a new tech comes and beats OLEDs in picture quality).
I have spent only few minutes on A80J, so I cannot say how much better it's picture quality is when compared to X90J (the few minutes were also in broad daylight). What was very apparent in those few minutes was how less bright it was compared to X90J. The magic of OLEDs comes out at night time viewing or in a dark setting, so i have heard.
