Put 5x 18650s in series and throw them on a tool drawing 800w of power and they'll explode in short order. There is no 18650/21700 on the market that can handle 40a so at the very least you'll need two lower capacity sets in parallel to handle the current without damaging the battery. Even then, 20a high capacity cells aren't cheap.
Basically, no. You don't know what you're talking about.
I'm hoping they have killed all these older battery styles and only sell Max by the time some of mine need to be replaced. Anyone getting in on tool only deals recently should be set up well with this kit. I already have a slew of batteries and probably don't need more of the non-max variety
That's nice to know. Bought some last year and the combo charger-batteries were only approved for 3 years. Don't need more right now, but good to keep in mind.
not too bad considering that one can get the ryobi at same price practically any day.
unless Ryobi has significantly changed, it's geared toward the occasional use by home owners. Not meant to hold up to more rigid conditions of regular / daily use.
It was during the Christmas sales. I think we can still see the price keep going down. Ridgid is trying to phase out the regular battery with the new Max line. So most likely they will continue to go on sale in the near future.

They'll ask you a few questions to verify that yours are bad and send out new ones.
Easy-peasy and the number one reason to buy Ridgid tools, no battery replacement costs ever.
