HDR will be terrible on all monitors in this range. I have the Dell 27 inch IPS monitor and leave HDR off becuase it looks better.
I bought 2 of these monitors last year. So far they have been great.
I don't game as much as I used too. But when I do, color looks good and
perform fine at 1440p. If you are a heavy gamer. I'm sure you will see the flaws more then me.
No complaints so far.
I have the Costco 32" version of this and as others have said, the HDR looks awful out of the box. You need to install the color profile on the support page to really make it work [lg.com] Mine looks fantastic after setting that up.

In this price range don't expect a good HDR experience. You need decent brightness (600+ nits) and FALD or OLED to provide gorgeous contrast.
Well, it more than not good . . . it's unusable. I can't even make it through the PS4 HDR calibration test. Poor quality HDR is one thing . . . unusable HDR is borderline deception.

saw this yesterday, but rtings review said it's only okay. The Gigabyte M27Q go downs to $319 pretty often and it seems like that one is much better for 40 dollars more.
Did we read the same review? "The LG 27GL83A-B is a very good monitor with a 27 inch, 1440p IPS screen. It delivers a great gaming experience with extremely low input lag, an outstanding response time, and a few great gaming features." https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/lg/27gl83a-b

This was one of the best gaming monitors you could buy two years ago.

I bought this almost two years ago, back in April 2020. I used this for both work and game, no complains, next to U2415. My other half complained her dual U2415 setup is too small. So she now has it as the main monitor + U2415, and I have the Monoprice zero G 32 inch flat + U2415. It is much better than the zero G, but I can live with the zero G.

this or the dell s2721dgf for $300?
I have both and tbh the only difference I have actually noticed so far is the extra 4 USB on the dell. if you plug headphones or a controller into a monitor that is really it imo. they both look great

I noticed that customer satisfaction is higher (4.8 vs 4.2) for the LG on NewEgg and Amazon.

NewEgg is selling refurb M27q for $270 today.

same same, i ordered the dell due to their super long reputation of making top notch monitors (probably better than they actually make laptops)

165hz, slim very classy border. Rear Lighting that can be turned on/off. top notch build quality. Dell makes monitors that last.

I just got my monitor this weekend... Sweetened up this deal by using the $40 off AMEX promo.

So far I'm happy with the brightness. Not as bright as my M1 MacBook pro 13" display but I'm ok with that. (Even when the LG is set to max brightness, but with power saving still on)

I'm using the monitor for work exclusively at the moment, so can't comment on any of the gaming features... But text handling is acceptable. Scrolling up and down on a long spreadsheet is fine, panning left and right is fine... But if you grab the whole window and drag that around, the text looks horrible. I'm using the included HDMI cable via a USB dongle.

Glad I got this 27" instead of the 32" VA panel from Costco, the 32" would be too big for my desk which is only 53" wide and 23" deep.

Also note, the power cord on this monitor is too short, it's only like 4 feet, if even that.

oh and there's no built in USB hub... no USB at all. not a huge deal for me but a little bummer.

I noticed that my computer can't handle QHD in anything faster than 60 hz, so I ended up buying a less expensive Dell Monitor.

You aren't getting decent HDR in this price range regardless of the model, panel, brand etc. The brightness isn't high enough so they'll all looked washed out. If you really want good HDR I would suggest HDR1000 or above to do a proper job. Last I looked a decent HDR 1440p monitor was like $550+ and most (if not all) of those in that price bracket are HDR600. The # simply correlates to brightness.

There are a few better (newer) monitors in this price range but this is still a very good monitor and good value if you're on a tight budget. If you really want quality HDR expect to pay 2x this price at least.

What are some good- 1440p or above, 144hz or above, 27/32 inch hdr monitors in 500-600 range, mostly spreadsheets browsing etc w some gaming ? TIA

Loving this monitor, i usually only buy from Costco but this IPS, 2k, 27 was a no brainer!
Now sits happy next to my older LG 32" 4k that is only 60hz and my 16" MBP that powers them both
