Reminds me when I go for my annual checkup and my doctor always brings up every single gaping wound and won't shut up about the profuse bleeding. Can't he just stick to the important stuff like making sure my knees' reflexes are spot on? So "preachy!"

I did a little test comparing LOTR on 4K and on Blu Ray. I had LOTR in UHD running on my LG 4K player and set up the Blu Ray in my Xbox 1S and set both at almost exactly the same time in the movie.
Switching sources back and forth on my receiver I discovered greater separation and there were detail sounds on the 4K that simply were no there on the Blu Ray.
The resolution doesn't dictate better sound. There are Blu ray movies with ATMOS, that doesn't mean the sound isn't as good as 4K.

Can't buy it with no rush credits
You're technically correct, but for someone with a 7.2 set up (not me), the average 4k disc has better audio than standard Blu Ray.
Edit: Found it, HDR10. I'll probably order anyway.

Sorry but that's just wrong info. It all depends on what audio format they mastered the discs with, I can give numerous examples of Blu-Ray discs with Atmos: Detective Pikachu, The Shining, Uncut Gems, Parasite, Knives Out, etc.
And examples of 4K discs that don't have Atmos or DTS:X like Grease, Mission Impossible 1-3, Tennet (or most anything Nolan for that matter), even The Shawshank Redemption didn't get anything more than 5.1, but is still one of the best 4K discs out there.
My point is that 4K disc or not doesn't give you Atmos/DTS:X, and most importantly doesn't give you a good audio mix. Just because the disc has Atmos doesn't mean the audio mix is good or will actually use the overhead channels unfortunately.

Here my take on this. I agree this all starts with the transfer.
A thing you guys are leaving out and is often downplayed/overlooked/etc is the quality of your setup.
Example: Do you really get the advantage of Atmos/X or 5/7/9.1 surround sound from a soundbar? IMO no not really.
Another issue is Atmos/X or object based surround sound is a true upgrade in sound compared to the speaker based sound.
Since most people have never heard a proper object based setup they don't have true idea what it can do.
So people just compare it to what they know, speaker based surround which isn't the same.
Because of all this you often hear people say "Atmos doesn't mean the audio mix is good or will actually use the overhead channels unfortunately".
As far as your movie opinion/comment I'm not sure I would agree.
If only half the movie gets an upgrade and the half left out is thee biggest part of the movie experience.
For me I would not categorize it as "one of the best 4K discs out there.", I don't even bother to upgrade if the AQ isn't upgraded.
