I just wanted to touch in here again to address all of the people talking crap about this tool. It might not have the best specs on the market, but I use this thing almost every single day at work (I am a professional carpenter and remodeler). This is a great tool. It might not be brushless, but who cares? I typically get weeks of light use from a 5aH battery, and there is very minimal vibration. Having the on/off switch (rather than the trigger switch) allows you to turn it on and use both hands and/or posting you elbow on the surface to make ultra precise cuts. You cannot do this with some other brands. Also the locking system is great and you don't need to buy special blades like you do for the newer model. Oscillating tool blade are THE MOST expensive on the market, so this is a big deal. If you're on the fence and you already have Makita tools, I highly recommend pulling the trigger.

As a side note regarding blades, you get what you pay for. Some people buy big packs of cheap blades that they dispose of like utility knife blades. Personally, I like to spend a bit more on Bosch blades. They last me FOREVER. I always keep a bag of blades so that I can use newer blades on important cuts and old blades on drywall or metal. Like I said, I am a professional who uses this tool all the time, not some home owner who reads too many reviews online. I hope this is helpful!
Note that HD promotion is still going. You get the same tool / battery / charger for $119, but can return the battery and charger, making the tool about $69.

Project Farm rated this multi tool pretty badly. If you're not in Makita system you may opt for a different brand. Milwaukee seems to be best rated.

That being said, if you don't have one of these tools, you should get one. They are amazing.

Actually as a tradesman, the DeWalt is by far the most popular oscillating tool on the job site.

I have this one and I like it a lot. It might not be the best, but having the switch instead of the trigger allows you to make much for precise cuts. This is one of my favorite tools.

Thanks for mentioning that, I'm in the Makita 18v ecosystem and want a multi tool, but don't need one at the moment. I guess I'll pass on this one.

Not what I'd consider Makita Quality. This osci will eat your hands! Wayyyy too much vibration in this. I'd like to see Makita make a better version that won't leave your hands numb for 2 days. Maybe make a 40v and find a way to use half that voltage to dampen the vibration. 🤣 🤣 🤣

Yeah, Makita are traditionally, great tools. But they need to tweak a few things, and completely redesign a few others. This one needs a complete redesign for sure!!!

This is an older model. It's fine, but is just an ok model and not up to the level of more recent models by the major brands.

Makita's newest model XMT04ZB is much improved in terms of performance and vibration control. A notable plus/minus is that it is compatible with all Starlock standards (including plus and max), which means it isn't compatible with any Non-Starlock blades or accessories.

Yeah I saw that one after seeing this deal...kinda pricey but I'll wait for a sale. The improvements from what I've read seem worth the price difference.

This model XMT03Z he tested is the older brushed motor model that's been really long in the tooth. They are probably trying to clear these out.

The new model XMT04Z is brusheless and Starlock, arguably when of the best on the market.

No prob. I have almost every battery platform out there and been waiting on a good deal on a multi tool. I have the M12 and a Ryobi 18V and a craftsman 20V actually. Got them on some really good deals but they are pretty weak. They work for drywall but if need to make a lot of cuts the vibration and speed (or lack thereof) get annoying quickly. Good to have a couple of them spaced around various rental properties though to cut stuff in a pinch.

Do you have an M12 Fuel though? It seems to be on par with the 18v models.
