It has one. Toggles on and off with an F key. I got this in December at $500 and pretty happy with it. I have no idea how so many people use sub-17" laptops as stationary home PCs now that I've gotten spoiled Wink

Speaking of F keys, I don't like having to hold Ctrl just to push F5 to refresh, or F2 in Excel. They all default to things like external monitor or volume controls. IMHO it should be the other way around — Function first, Ctrl-function for all the ancillary stuff.

The RAM seems to be upgradeable according to this YouTuber: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I...rLc&t=214s

Most of HP's 17 inch laptops have RAM upgradeability, so this should be no different.

Has anyone actually tried it ( sorry I don't know anything about online games LOL and just looking for something cheap for him to pay on the weekends )

Look for a quote "Gaming" laptop that has a GPU like an Nvidia RTX 3050 or 3060 so your kid doesn't grow out of the laptop too quickly. For iGPU ( i=integrated) laptops like this deal, the AMD iGPU versions are better than the Intel variants. Walmart has the cheap Gateway laptops with an AMD Ryzen R7 that can just barely play Fortnite at Low Quality settings.

This i5 is an amazing CPU. I see a 17.3" Lenovo at VipOutlet (can be trusted and easy returns) for about $420. Only problem is that Lenovos usually have one mem module soldered in. So have limited upgrade paths. If you buy 8GB you can upgrade to 12Gb and that is it

Thanks again for this. I returned the new one and bougt the refurb +3yrs warranty for $75. I know this thing will fall apart in 2yrs (this is my third of this model), so I will basically be covered. Great deal.

You are SO SO slick! I love it. My favorite places for refurb laptops are WallyWorld. Deals fade in out there. You think a deal is dead and gone! No it can come back. Same with VIP Outlet. I buy at ebay but you really really need to read the seller. I had to learn this. Now I am good at it.

Sloppy HP does not mention any backlit keyboard BUT then do a search for ---->>> 17-by4061nr backlit ----

And you will see that Amazon does say backlit keyboard Same for some eBay sellers

Walmart is still selling this for $499 https://www.walmart.com/ip/HP-17-...hbdg=L1600

....... At ebay I see 17-by4061nr going for a tiny bit less but are refurbs.
