Good to have handy, keep in closet near the front door.

However: when this arrives, go out and use it, give it a few Closed/Open/Closed/Open twists, slowly, too make sure the valve is loose.

If you cannot get the meter valve to fully close, that's a Job for the city, they need to come out, and possibly exchange the entire meter.

By code, you should have another shut off valve, after the city meter ..... unless that is brass, they are prone to be being stuck Frown

i bought this same exact one when a pipe burst and i had a geyser in my backyard. i raced to the nearest big box store to buy it while the geyser shot in the air for about an hour or so. buy this if you don't have it. i also bought a gas shutoff tool on my next trip.

It's good to work that valve every few years, so that it does not get permanently stuck.

Especially if it's an old Gate Valve.
