Pros
-3060 at $800 is insane
-8gb is 8gbx1 module, so easy upgrade
-2 nvme slots, once again easy upgrade
Cons
-3060 is a 75w card (iirc) so it suffers performance wise. This wasnt an issue for me because I came from a 960m
-build quality is buttcheeks, mushy keyboard, chassis flex, the speakers are on the bottom so I could barely hear anything when watching a movie in bed
-thermals, this thing is like a jet engine taking off underload. I can't explain how loud it is lol
But at the end of the day, it'll run damn near every game and its made me pretty happy
Note: if anyones running Ubuntu on this and figured out how to get 2 monitors working shoot me a message 😂

I I bought an MSI leopard and it is absolutely fantastic. Better processor and 3060 but no issues.
GPU prices are falling?
I use ThrottleStop to keep temps below 80 by lowering the turbo speed depending on how many cores are active. The 3060 actually seems to produce less heat than the CPU.
I lowered single core boost to like... 4ghz, 2 cores to 3.8, 4 cores to 3.6... etc...
This allows it to maintain acceptable temperatures, but I do wonder how much performance I'm giving up.
Games still seem to run great with boost limited like this.
For the price point, this is a great deal - don't expect the performance of a $2000 laptop to be comparable.

Full disclosure, the mobile performance HEAVILY depends on the cooling implementation and power delivery system. 40W and 125W deliver very different performance with the same chip.
even though its the most underpowered version of the RTX 3060 (85w).... still should play most games fine at 1080p at high settings

Very good site to check notebook GPU's & CPU's, many options to choose from. I have to turn iPhone sideways to make it readable though. Excellent site though.
I got the 16gbx1 PNY module from best buy and works great
The gigabyte deal for sure. Better ports, gpu, cpu, ram, for $100 extra
