Just an FYI if you're just getting this for the "free" tablet. The tablet is a Galaxy A7 lite which only costs $200 ($129 on Amazon)

They will still lock you to a 2 year EIP even if it's free (They'll make a monthly credit to cover the tablet EIP)

Meaning you'd end up paying $10 for 2 years ($240) for a $129 tablet.

So if you're only doing it for the tablet then it's not worth it
Some people don't live in a house.
Not on the "free" tablet, lol. In all seriousness, don't choose the plan with TE in the title as that one is tax exclusive (you have 2 choices)

soc code ZB10HSTI is the one you want.

You don't have to actually use the A7 to continue getting the promotional credits. So yes, you can put the tablet SIM in your iPad or whatever device you want.
thank you!

then, it make sense to get M2000 w. flashed FW if we have TMO business plan only.
Any trustworthy site from where it can be bought?
An individual by the name of Rich (search for "rich firmware" in this thread to find info) created the firmware and should be able to help. I have not worked with or purchased anything from Rich, so this is info based on what I've been reading and also a couple of email exchanges with him.

Rich Hathaway, he can be contacted @ [email protected] He has flashed my m2000 as well as a few other members units as well. I pull just over 700mbps down and 40 to 50mbps up with jitter around 2-3 and a ping in the mid teens.

If you don't care about high speed, $150 can get a budget 5g phone and a USB router, speed is 250/50

Higher speeds than 250 are not even likely if you pay him the $150 to update the FW on the 2000. Speed still depends on what Band you can pull, and/or distance from cell tower.

To give people an idea of what kind of speeds the A7 Lite can do:
11:30pm yesterday 75 down 40 up
10:30am today 50 down 30 up

During the day I get around 30-50 down 30 up
And at night I get around 60-75 down 40 up

Upload speeds tend to vary by +/-10 throughout the day, but generally very robust.
Download speeds have wider variation. Although I've never seen anything less than 20.

So I would like to add my experience getting this deal. I was able to get this deal online at the T-Mobile business site. I clicked on the get started link and went through the process, got my credit check using my SSN. The result was: congratulations you are approved for up to 12 lines. I went and looked up the tablet and added it to my cart. Then I chose the tax included business magenta plan. I had to scroll down to the bottom and it was on the left hand side. I went through the checkout process flawlessly. It did say the tablet was on backorder but I didn't care as long as I locked in the deal. The invoice breakdown show the tablet with the promo for monthly credits in order to get it free at the end. It did show a $20 charge for a Sim starter kit and $10 for the first month of service Plus like three dollars and change for taxes I guess. I got an email later confirming my order and the usual BS. Fast forward a week later I received my tablet and SIM card before the estimated ship date. I unboxed it and popped the Sim card in place and the tablet activated on its own. When you open a business account using your SSN in order to get online access you have to register the account on the consumer website. It asks you for the phone number but if you go into the tablet settings my tablet said phone number unknown. What I did at this point was send a text message from the tablet using the messaging app to my cell phone so I could see my tablet phone number. I was able to set up online account access that way. I checked the account details and everything was fine. Now in order to get the HD pass added I went through Twitter and requested it through there business support handle. They did this instantly without any objections. I tried to get them to credit my $20 back to my account for the SIM card but they said they could not do it. So I thank them and disconnected. Later that day I went on the T-Mobile app on my tablet and contacted them through the chat icon. I explained to the representative that I did not notice I was charged $20 for a Sim starter kit in my order for the tablet and that I had one lying around I could have used to save the money. I kindly requested if she could credit those $20 to my account and after verifying my order number she said that would not be a problem and 10 minutes later the $20 credit was showing in My Account Details. I know a lot of you have had trouble getting the HD pass added and also getting credit back for The Sims starter kit and stuff. I figured I would share my experience here and hopefully it will be helpful to any of you trying to accomplish a similar result to mine. This is a killer deal and I just thought I would get this tablet for the kids for road trips and stuff. I am seriously considering getting another tablet before the deal expires. Cheers!
The tablet is the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite?

Your bill shows a promo code T941 which is the credit for the tablet?

Thanks for this post.

It's a shame when Hathaway shills mislead by touting their 700 Mbps download speed. That's T-Mobile's 5G speed at one person's location, and has nothing to do with Hathaway's service. Buy a 5G phone rather than paying for a special service to spoof an IMEI.

We don't even have 5G at my home yet, so any old 4G LTE phone + router gives the max speed achievable at my location, about 30 Mbps. Unlimited 30 Mbps service for $10 a month is a great deal, and I'm super happy with it. Hathaway's service wouldn't improve my speed, just make me $150 poorer.

If one use this as a hotspot with a PC linked to it, is that speed one can sort of expect?

Will this be adequate to support Zoom video calls?

Speed seems plenty for Zoom. I think as long as ping times don't spike or vary too much, the connection should be sustainable. I was getting ping times on speedtest around the 60-80ms range.

FWIW, I've taken the tablet to a location where my speeds were slower at ~30 down 5 up and it worked fine for Zoom. I'm not sure how it would be where the tower is congested, though.

If you're curious about your location, try out the tmobile test drive.

Metro's A53 is $50 + about $3-5 taxes + minimum of $40 plan.
The promotion terms clearly state $40 monthly plan required.
The minimum is about $93. It will be more if metro forces you to have the $50 or $60 plans and/or another $10 insurance, which is like 99% likely. Some stores may even force/trick you to get the "free" cases/screen protectors for another $40 or so. Some (most dealer) stores will charge $20 activation fee.
It will be like winning a lottery if you can get it with only $85 out of the door on the $30 plan and no any extras. Most people will pay like $105 for the A53 from metro, either getting the more expensive plans or adding insurance.

Since a53 is usb2, if you just want a 5g phone to tethering. Free Samsung a13 5g is also a great pick, $40 out of store
