Man. The new 5600 is coming out April 20th. 4/20. You would have to be on something to wait until then to pay 200$ for a chip that's not as good as the 5600x. If your on the fence about AMD and waiting for better prices. Here it is. Keep in mind. Last year you were spending 260$ on last gen 3600 and 300-330 for the 5600x. This is a great deal.

This would be an incredible upgrade. You just need to make sure to buy a compatible motherboard- I'd recommend a b550 or x570 board.

Alright guys, need some advice here. Looking to upgrade my sons pc. He currently has An intel core i7-3770. No clue what he's got for a motherboard.
So would this be a significant upgrade? If so, suggestions on a decent motherboard for this?

I need some advice from you computer gurus. It's been awhile since I built my last computer. I want to upgrade from an i7 6700k. Would this be a substantial upgrade and yes I realize I need a new mobo? I would like it to last for a few years or should I go higher up cpu the ladder? I game a lot but would like the capability do do some video stuff which is painfully slow with this processor I now have. Any help would be appreciated.

Yeah, make sure you get a compatible MOBO. I got a b550 which said it was AMD ready. Found out I had to upgrade the MOBO before it recognized the CPU. You could run into that issue as well.

Picked it up at Microcenter few weeks back for $159 with the coupon. If you have a Microcenter by you might be worth checking out if coupon still works. Search SD for that post.

I have MC in Houston issue is coupon is for new customers only, how to bypass this?
