I own an embarrassingly large collection of headphones ranging from the Koss Porta Pros up to Sennheiser HD820, kept my LG V60 strictly for the quad dac. I suppose my post probably means more to another serious audiophile than the average Joe. With that said, if you are already vested with Apple's ecosystem, the convenience of these more than compensates for any minute shortcoming when it comes to noise cancellation and sound quality.
I got a whole bunch of headphones too. I got the Drop Pandas, did you compare these to them?
Or maybe they just googled AirPods Max and noise cancellation reviews, and top reviews from places like the Sound Guys are saying:
"Anyone that wants the best noise cancelling should get the AirPods Max, which outperforms both the Sony WH-1000XM4 and the Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700."
But by all means, keep saying "isheep". Maybe simulate a few more sheep sounds. Useful.

That's the first result in Google for the review query I listed. If you prefer rtings they said:

Or insert whatever site you prefer, if both the first page of Google results and large review sites fail to supply what you need, to whine online about people with different preferences/disposable income.

How come there are 23 thumbs down on this reply. who doesn't like honest opinions on deal items ?
You'll get better noise cancellation from Sony XM4s or Bose 700s and slightly better sound quality from Sennheiser HD1s and of course wired planar magnetic headphones with a dedicated DAC/amp. The convenience of easily switching from device to device seamlessly more than compensates for this in my opinion. That's what really makes me grab these nearly every time over my Bose or Sennheiser headphones along with transparent mode which is incredibly handy, much more than I thought it would be. Not having take the headphones off and put them back on just to have a quick chat with my wife or a coworker is a tiny change that makes a big difference for me.
The spatial audio is a little gimmicky but does open the perceived sound stage and works well for tracks that are designed for it if you use Apple Music. I do not turn it on for standard stereo tracks. It does sounds great when simulating surround sound from my Apple TV with applicable content. Another nice feature is the ability for my wife and me to share audio from my iPad on planes while watching movies which works well and saves me from my old clunky solution of using a splitter and wired headphones.
The fit and weight took a few days to get used to but now I wear them for hours at a time on a daily basis and find them comfortable. Hope this helps folks who are on the fence. I waited to get them until a sale like this based on the initial sticker shock but since I use them every day for music, podcasts, audiobooks, and video from multiple devices, they're well worth the premium price in my book.
