Bought this last week to replace/compare with an Air M1.
for the most part, 16GB M1 will perform very similarly, Except in video editing, Prores and HDR coloring is fantastic on the device.
The extra CPU cores add a bit of performance but not much. Blender scores are very similar and it gets stomped by my windows desktop with an RX580. GPU performance is better but the higher resolution also makes the framerates about the same as an Air M1
I would only recommend this over the M1 Air, if you prefer the better screen and extra ports and dual monitor capabilities.
The Air is lighter and smaller, I feel it has a more premium-feeling cause the frame seems a bit more rigid or thicker even though its lighter.

Costco had a 16gb RAM version?

Yes.. last week
Curious where you are located? I thought Costco only carried the 8gb versions. First I've ever heard of them having the 16gb versions.
Not being a jerk. Genuinely curious.
Edit - Pro model is 16gb standard. Nobody else needs to answer. ☺

Pretty sure there is no 8gb version of the Pro.
