This U9DG is not listed as a qualifying model for the $100 Hisense Food Promo. Probably another Amazon miscue with the promo like they initially made with the 50U6G.

Waiting for someone to post about the ghosting issue. This is honestly an insane deal for a great movie watching TV as long as you have the tools to calibrate

Exactly. I am trying to convince a friend of mine to jump on this deal. He said "but I read reviews and they say that it has bad response time and blooming/ghosting"... But, I SAID "hey, you have to realize these sites were reviewing this as a $3,000 TV (at the time), it is now 1,200 bucks! Performance per dollar has a huge impact on reviews."

I might just buy one for myself.

I haven't seen a single thing about blooming, the black levels are obviously great. Ghosting on the other hand, that would bother the hell out of me lol I would jump on it if I didn't have an 85" q80a coming in. If I don't like it I'll probably return it and get this

Tough call. At this price it's direct competitor is TCL r646, which received pretty good reviews on contrast, motion handling, and brightness but seems to have software issues. This TV has near oled level contrast from dual panel tech but negatives are banding, ghosting. TCL's issues at least is fixable with updates, which they seem to have been doing. Hisense moving to mini-led this year seems to say they gave up on this dual panel technology.

The r646 isn't even in the same league for picture quality. This was a flagship $3k MSRP TV and was reviewed as such. The r646 is a budget brand exclusive that had decent performance.

just cause it was initially overpriced to try to compete at flagship tier doesn't mean its picture quality actually reflect the price. we wouldn't have this stock clearing sale at $1200 if it actually performed in that tier. you aren't seeing c1 qn90a etc dropping down to this price for 75s. every initial review only gave it positive points for its great contrast ratio. color, motion, even brightness was rated ok at best compared to other 2k-3k range at release. so basically its actually just a mid-tier tv at best that was priced too high at release.

Every review was based upon it's $3k price point. You are correct that it fell short at that time, but was a solid bargain when it first went on sale for $2k over the holidays (and sold out relatively quickly on Amazon). Rtings had it ranked as one of the best sets for movies. At $1200 you're a moron if you think there's anything remotely comparable.

Looking between this and the TCL. My main concern is we sometimes also use it for watching sports like tennis and basketball. I worry the motion issues will be too big a detriment and I might be better off the the TCV 646 mini led which has buggy software but almost as good of picture with much better motion handling?

Sports is not unwatchable........ Hockey is the worst offender to me and even that is sufferable as there's no DSE to deal with. I'm personally a picture guy and can obviously overlook issues to get the best looking image on the screen.

It was delivered yesterday. I am very satisfied. The 4k youtube videos looks fantastic. I don't watch sports much. Tennis match looks good. I wached several 1080p tv shows, all looks great.
Tv starts very quick, almost instantly, it probably is just in standby mode instead of complete shut off.
its own speak is decent, but I already have the external speakers system.

Any ghosting or motion blur on fast moving pictures?
