Went 40v, I'd say go 40v or higher going forward. Night and day difference.

You can get third party on Amazon or eBay, but...

If you really want to save $ you can also buy a roll of spool and wind them yourself w/ your empty spools (which is what I do). Literally pennies per spool. Just be sure to get the right size (it's .65), and make sure it's hex line and not just regular.

Here's what I use. I've had this for two years and probably haven't used 10% of it.

Ignore this, now I see they do both have batteries.

The original post says no battery for the cheaper one.

Personally I'd stick with a Greenworks/Ryobi etc. 40v trimmer as they are not that much more expensive when bundled, vs. this one that pairs 2x 20v batteries. What happens if one of the batteries go out?

I have a fairly small yard so hopefully 20v won't have too many issues. In for 1! Definitely still worth for battery and charger alone.

Do your self a favor and get at least 40v. I have a 20 and i'm not too thrilled with it.
I have both. If you have a small yard the worx is the way to go. They are light and easy to adjust. I like my ryobi 40v for bigger jobs but my kids and wife prefer the worx.

Worked! Repped!

Fantastic deal. Shipping alone would be worth at least $20.

Does it matter if we use 0.065" or 0.08" thick spool? Seems to me 0.08" will be more durable but not sure what would prevent me from using it. Any idea?

It does the job for the most part but my back yard transitions to woods. Not fun using a 20v trimmer. Even for a little bit of edging, I find myself doing multiple passes with the 20 where the 40 does it all in one go.

Get a propane flamethrower for that, youll eat up too much string trying to get into the crack, but yes it will get it eventually but waste a ton of string as it will wear down quick on the hard surface.
Agreed. When the string hits hard like sidewalk, you'll be breaking it like crazy.

But if you really want to get to the roots, just dig it out with a knife or something. Then seal the crack to prevent further weeds. And they will come back!
