I don't recommend this. The wiring in the walls will be gauged assuming a 15A max. Exceeding this will increase fire risk and if someone has a house fire after doing this and insurance company / fire dept. does an investigation and sees that the wiring and/or breaker aren't matching to code they can deny coverage. Not to mention people don't want to set fire to their house to begin with.

I got this a few weeks ago during a similar deal and I'm ordering another. It's my first time using induction and it's amazing how fast you can boil water.

An inexpensive way to get introduced to the advantages of induction cooking, especially if you have an older house without 220-volt outlets. Also be sure you have stainless steel or cast iron pots, as these won't work with any of your aluminum pots.

The brand doesn't matter, being induction compatible does. Cookware will have an icon on bottom that looks like a coiled spring to show it's compatible. You can test with a magnet, of it attaches to pan or pot it will work. Cast iron cookware will work with our too.

A:Answer Standard 2-prong (ungrounded) US plug. 1800W means it will max out a 15A circuit at full draw. Mine has tripped the breaker once or twice before, if anything else is being used on the circuit at the same time I'm at full power. 1200W is the most you can pull on a 10A circuit.

Would instapot inner pot work with this? I need to boil gallon milk once a week and it burns my aluminum pot at the bottom which is a pain to clean.

I would not accept this Insignia cooker as a free gift. Good for little more than boiling water if you are willing to stand there to control it.

Good way to get discouraged from trying induction is to waste time with this Insignia.

Also incorrect: "Be sure you have stainless" is not correct.

Correct: Be sure that a magnet is -strongly- attracted to the bottom of the cookware and that the cookware bottom is perfectly flat and remains so when heated.

How many 220v outlets does a NEW house have? Besides the one for a dryer. Just wondering..
