Check the dorm rules. No dorms at my college allowed anything like this, not even a traditional coffee pot.

I bought this last time it was on sale. Works well for hotpot and boiling water. Haven't used it on lower settings to get a feel of temperature control. Overall I'm happy with purchase

lenscap
might be able to split the order and not end up picking the lenscap up, but unconfirmed (haven't tried it) if that will work in your favor

That's exactly what my wife said when I told her about it. Looks like a no-go.
From what I remember back in college, the dorm rules were more of a suggestion...

This has a fan that's noticeable when it's running, but for the price it's worth it imo

Yeah.... it's much better AND safer than a hotplate.
These are also very useful in dorm rooms. [piphardware.com]
Looks like an Easy Bake Oven with coffee attachment. 👍

This thing is fine for short and fast cook sessions. However if you need to use it for stews and simmers which induction is perfect for, it overheats in about 30 min.

We picked up ours today. It's amazing how fast this heats the pan.
Our condo does not have gas. Using this to test out induction so we can decide whether to install a full size induction range or cooktop when we remodel.
