You can get 3080 config for around $300 more which would be way to go.

Interesting. For comparison I just bought all the parts for building a i5-12400 mid-levle rig which includes the following:
  • Intel i5-12400 CPU
  • G.Skill RipJaws V 16MB 3200 RAM
  • Gigabyte B660M Gaming X DDR4 MB
  • Phantek 400A Case
  • Corsair RM850x Gold 80 PSU
  • TeamGroup T-Force Cardea Zero Z330 MVNe M.2 1TB SSD
  • ID-COOLING SE-224-XT-Basic CPU Cooler
  • Noctua NT-H2 Thermal paste

Final price sans GPU is $653..

Add in a 3070-Ti with today's prices (which of course I have no interest in doing) which is currently around $750 - $800 and CyberpowerPC's rig with a better process and a AIO rig is still cheaper than what I'm putting together.

My plan is to hold out until the RTX 3060Ti GPUs come down to around $400 and then bite.

too many great CyberPC deals from @Jaggsta today! About to pull trigger. A few questions for SD experts:
-case (CyberPowerPC NR640): in another thread someone mentioned Phanteks, but it's 360mm vs. 240mm and I don't know what this means
-integrated graphics: I can just stick in an old 1050 card if I need, right?
-PS and MB: coolermaster and MSI seem good (not terrible), but just checking
-memory: I'm getting 32 gb upgrade. what is the difference between adata and "performance memory by major brands." it's the same price.

Case - I haven't been able to take a good look at the CPPC NR640 case. I can't tell if the front panel is well ventilated are not to promote good airflow. This may be the worst component of the deal but it is easily rectifiable by swapping the parts out ot another case. You can get good airflow cases for $100.

360mm vs 240mm - that's the fan size. You don't need particularly large fans, you just need to make sure that the fans are well placed and the air pressure within the case is balanced as much as possible to promote good airflow. Some prefer to have their cases under positive pressure to reduce dust build up.

MSI Pro Z690 DDR MB - this MB was reviewed well by Gamer Nexus: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VEkDVlv1FFg

CoolerMaster MWE Gold - Decent modular PSU and provides ample power for this setup

RAM - "performance memory by major brands" - translation you'll get whatever RAM is in
surplus that they can put in the box

In terms of CCPC builds I advise you to spend some time looking into CCPC build reviews on the net to discover how well their build QC, shipping/packaging and CS support is. Here are some reviews of CPPC builds from Gamer Nexus: https://www.youtube.com/c/GamersN...CyberPower

dang it. I wait months hoping for a deal on a 12600K and it happens right after I pulled the trigger on the i9 12900K/3080 deal from a few days ago. It is really overkill for what I do. May refuse delivery for this one.

thanks, @smithmal! I decided to go with:

-Phanteks P500A (good reviews here: https://www.gamersnexus.net/hwrev...se-quality)

-EVGA CLC 240mm CPU cooling (decent review here: https://www.gamersnexus.net/hwrev...r-h100i-v2) since I can't find information about CPPC MasterLiquid Lite

240 vs 360 is simply 2 vs 3 120mm fans....240=2x120mm fans and 360=3x120mm fans

Fan sizes would be 120mm and 140mm....
Radiator sizes would be 120, 140, 240, 280, 360, 480...Idk about 3 and 4 fan 140mm options

Your build isn't apples to apples as you've made some more costly choices but yes, this is a good price for it's parts.

Just be warned that the EVGA CLC units are known for having very loud stock fans. I purchased my CLC 360 brand new off eBay for a really good price so swapping in some artic fans was fine for me - but if you're going for a very quiet build you may need to swap them or at least plug them into a more customisable fan header on your motherboard and adjust the fan curve and see how they sound for you.

Also, it's not "just 2 vs 3 fans" a 240 mm AIO has a smaller radiator than a 280 or 360. Will it matter? Likely not, these newer Intel CPUs don't even need water cooling, so it's just extra insurance.

Yes, my understanding with the Alder lake CPUs liquid cooling is only necessary if you intend to overclock.

I haven't followed, or built anything for over a decade, but based on what I've sporadically read on this forum, I think it will fall some more. It'll probably happen between now and early autumn. But I'm also assuming it won't fall more than $200. If I'm wrong, then I can regret not saving $200+ by waiting a few months. :/
