I mean you're free to use any card you want and people regularly get away with normal ones in dashcams just fine... BUT if anything happened under the warranty period, Samsung won't help you if they find out it was being used in a unwarranted device [samsung.com].

What's the difference between select and pro plus? If it's only the speed, i don't have any devices that need anything faster than u3 select speed. For reliability i'd like to get something better. I had a eufy cam destroy 128gb microcenter card and corrupted 128gb samsung select. I want something a little more reliable for intermittent continuous recording and events only.

Check out Samsung Pro Endurance or other brands that are rated for dash cam/security camera usage. They are designed to be more reliable for that type of re-writing usage.

Yeah, you are right about the Samsung Pro Endurance infrequently going on sale. The last time that I have seen it discounted was last November, and before that was early Spring 2021. I keep an eye out for these because I don't like to pay full price. The 128GB cards went down to ~$16-$17 compared to the now normal price of ~$25. I hope in the future that they go down to that same price point, but you never know with inflation as it is.

I've used regular u3 128gb select with 1080 and now 4k/1080 dual channel dash cams. Not a problem. Eufy cams low quality 2k destroyed one microcenter card and corrupted one samsung u3 select. Now i need something even more reliable than select or plus. Don't feel like overpaying for high endurance. I was able to restore 128gb select but 128gb microcenter card was completely destroyed. No disk tools could restore it.
