If you guys have to pick between the upgrade or keeping 5600x, which path should you go?

Nice price. Potential to get another 5% off if you use your Chase Amazon Prime CC.

I'd be more interested in the 5600x, as the 58xx series are tough to cool. Even with a Noctua tower air cooler with 2 fans mounted, I'm not considering it. Besides, TX heat is bad enough - I dont need a sauna in my office as well.

Just depends on your setup. A 360mm AIO will do just fine, or if you have a lot of fans in a case vs a small SFF build. The chip was designed to run at 90c with no degradation.

If you go 5800x make sure you have a beefy cooler, the chip runs hot.

I have the 5800X from several months ago and got the Noctua with 2 fans mounted, with 2 intake and 4 exhaust fans. On a normal performance photoshop processing, etc. I run around 40-45 degrees. The highest I've ever had was 81, but that was testing using Prime95.

It depend on the use. If it's content creation, then upgrade. If it's for gaming, then it depends if your gpu can really take advantage of the extra Horsepower.

Personally I'd just stick with my 5600x, just because it would feel like spending 💰 that I don't need to spend

Is the 5800x worth it over the 5600x strictly for gaming? Are the heat concerns overblown or real? I live in a hot area with no central A/C.

Short answer- no, not worth it. The heat is best determined by your case and cooling fans, not as much the ambient air temp.

5800x3d or 5900x, it's a waste to upgrade in same generation with merely 2 more cores. More heat and less gain overall.

I am no cpu expert but the 5800x gives only marginally better performance numbers than the 5600x at much higher power draw and 50% more money. 5600x seems like the much better deal to me.
