Yeah go with Amazon, not NewEgg. Lesser of two evils.

Damn, got 5 @ 16TB for the same price last month. Would of obviously waited for this one if I knew. Weird the smaller ones are still more expensive. Good price OP.

Now showing $399.99 for the 18TB on Amazon. Also, the listing (I think mistakenly?) says 256mb cache there, but it looks like the 18TB may only come in a 512mb cache option.

Newegg used to be great back in the day, but their customer service has gone downhill since.
Unfulfilled rebates, damaged products upon arrival, short return window, etc.

Company got sold to Chinese.
Shady practices ever since: shipping damaged used electronics as new and then refusing return. This fraudulent scheme became a big scandal when youtuber GamerNexus fell victim to it.

tl;dr They resold a $500 mobo that they knew was damaged as open box and at first denied person a refund until after the story went viral.

They have been Taiwan/Chinese majority owned since 2016 and it's going downhill with the above as an example.

Is there any advantage in buying directly from WD?

Does this work with regular desktop computers or only with NAS?
