You don't download movies to the Apple TV, it's a streaming device. The space is for downloading games, apps, etc.

As far as I know, no streaming device lets you download shows or movies to them.

Great price! Though I have Windows/Android everything, the Apple TV is my streaming device of preference. It's ad-free, has Dolby Vision/HDR10 support and has worked flawlessly for me.

The Roku Ultra was fine for us til it started crashing. Everything just works better and smoother on the ATV 4K though.



I dumped my Roku Ultra because it was crashing, but aside from that.. it just works. Every single time. Video quality is great and we haven't had any issues. If you already have a working streaming device (and don't need stuff like AirPlay or Apple Arcade), just stick with what you have til it's time to upgrade. It's a good device but if your usage is on the less demanding side, it doesn't make sense to ditch what you have and spend extra money.

I think this is the largest discount I've seen in a while. I bought my Apple TV 4K refurb'd direct from Apple last year. We've used Roku for many years - our most expensive Ultra started to crash constantly and apparently it was a common issue, with Roku support being useless. Switched to the Apple TV 4K and haven't looked back. It just works. We don't game on it or anything so the 32GB one is great.

Thinking about picking up another one at this price.

Damn. I bought a Roku Ultra 4 months ago and deeply regret it. Nothing touches the quality of apple 4k but I decided to cheap out. It's like comparing a Kia to the Tesla Model S.

Other than better compatibility with the Apple ecosystem, is there any reason to switch to the Apple TV 4K from a Roku Ultra? Mostly using apps like Hulu, Disney+, HBO Max, and Plex.

Performance on Apple TV is way better than any other streaming box. No lag or stuttering compared to nearly every other box including Google TV and Amazon Fire TV. It also feels the most stable. The only thing I don't like is that voice control is not built in like Fire TV. Like with Google, you have to buy an Apple smart speaker to get it.

Some TV built-in apps or Roku apps don't support the highest picture quality, like Dolby Vision. The Apple TV 4K also can offer more apps that might not be available with built-in apps such as Crunchyroll on LG CX. Also, all of the processing happens in the Apple TV 4K so if you have an older TV you can possibly see a significant speed boost and maybe even better/updated layouts. I love my Apple TV 4K and I haven't had any other streaming device beat it. Although, at it's core, it's just a simple streaming device.

So is it an upgrade for hi-fi audio, when compared to Nvidia shield pro that I have? Mine just plays 16bit audio.

Looks like Nvidia/Android devices can't play full res audio 24 or 32 bit I don't recall and 384Khz from Amazon Music/Tidal/Qobuz etc.

BTW I have no interest in Apple Music.

Looks like. I'd still have to get a dedicated music streamer... Am I wrong?
