This model gets some so so reviews, but this price is 5 dollars cheaper than the 4 inch. Please research before you commit so you understand how basic this finder is.

Still a good price for a 7" unit.
the lack of mapping is fine when you know the body of water. you can mark spots, Hazzards, and plot your course to get back where you came from. problem is the x series have a old processor and does not have a lot of memory. no split screen, the drawing is slow. every change in screen has to be redrawn... a big 7" screens should have split screen... the hook 7 without x has this. so, stay away from x
I would use this on a kayak or small boat. it's good for finding the depths and then fish. I would never put this on my bass boat. In fact I have a hook unit it hate now, lol! Id rather use a Garmin black and white unit over this thing.
Go Garmin for fun fish finders people.

Been running livescope for years and just put the new lvs34 on my boat over the weekend. I don't used it every time. I still have boats and kayaks that have basic depth finders. I try to keep all skills on point and fish without electronics.
Price it is still loads better than this one. It has a smaller screen but the sonar is much better
Yep!!! I have a striker 4 plus on one of my yaks. It has QuickDraw which let's you create depth contours. Down imaging and traditional can be spilt scree ned.
I remember you from waaay back with the Pescador kayak, 2014 or so. Man, that's what got me into all of this mess. Tired of fishing on the shore. Got that kayak and the rest is history. YouTube channel, Multiple kayaks, so many fish finders, even selling a product for fish finders... All because of that one purchase on Slickdeals.
It look like out there crap on this deal, but believe me I've done enough product reviews and more to say always legit or not. Even become a brand ambassador for some companies. But again it started with that doggone pescador 12 for kayak that was $300-$400. Amazon was going to ship it slowly, but I went to the sports authority got one.

I had a Garmin striker 4 for about 3 years or so. $100 went a long way these 3 years. Getting another one for a different setup and looking at the 4cv model that has contour marking capabilities. But that's a tad pricier...
The reviews on amazon are horrible on this model too.

Anyone have comments on if this or another budget (since i'm not looking for elite fishing info) sonar they would recommend.
Also the lack of maps is a non starter because we are on a small 900 acre lake.
I got one for a boat that never leaves the same body of water. What does it need maps for?
I guess the last word is, nice to have the features available, but not how I ended up using it mostly.
I mostly relegate to using the down view and sonar as a split screen....so the Tripleshot wasn't really necessary.
This unit would've been perfect for kayak but this unit without GPS is a bit useless IMO.
