This bell is no better than a $5 cheap doorbell without the subscription. Nothing works properly without subscription. The nest app is also very buggy and crappy
Wildly inaccurate

At this steep of a discount, it feels like they're going to cancel it just like they did with Nest Protect. About 1-2 months after they did a steep Nest Protect discount, they cancelled it. Bought it direct from the Google Store and they refused to allow me to return it. At least if you buy a product that Amazon or Sony cancels, they'll refund you the money so it's not a risk to but. Not so with Google. It's even worse since they like cancelling their product lines, since internal promotions are heavily skewed towards new product releases and not existing product maintenance.

Buyer beware.

It's not a device that's meant to be used without a subscription. Neither is ring doorbell

This bell doesn't work if you do not buy the $6 per month neat aware. I am already regretting it
Yes correct, Nest aware is necessary to get the most out of these. So it definitely works best for people that are already invested in the Nest ecosystem.
For $6 a month it covers all of your Nest equipment like cameras and/or doorbells, doesn't matter how many you have.

Has anyone found the first gen outdoor cam? I don't want to buy the battery version because it doesn't use the nest app

As someone who has old nest products and got a deep deep discount on a google nest battery doorbell when the local Bed Bath and Beyond was closing, I've given up hope on Google changing the google home app to be more like the nest app. IMO the nest app was nearly perfect with the layout.

They've announced that they're coming out with a new wired doorbell this year, so I think it's more just clearancing stock as opposed to no longer supporting.
